On October 11, in a meeting with businesses in Ha Tien City (Kien Giang Province), Chairman of Ha Tien City People's Committee - Mai Quoc Thang said: "Ha Tien is a coastal city in the northwest of Kien Giang Province, a traditional urban area with 316 years of formation and development.
A coastal road in Ha Tien.
In addition to the attraction of the landscape and long-standing urban settlement, famous for 10 typical beautiful landscapes of the Southern region, Ha Tien is also located in a special ecological region with many unique natural ecosystems such as marine ecosystems, wetlands, mountains, hills, forests... This is a historical land, with many cultural heritages, bordering the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Ha Tien is one of the four key tourist areas of Kien Giang province and clearly identifies tourism as a spearhead economic sector, creating a foundation and driving force to promote the development of other sectors and industries.
With its available advantages, Ha Tien has been developing tourism products such as: visiting historical sites, scenic spots, culinary tourism, community eco-tourism, resort tourism, spiritual tourism, festivals...
However, according to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tien City, besides advantages, there are still limitations in developing the local spearhead economic sector such as: the need for investment capital to upgrade and renovate infrastructure for tourism development is very large but local resources are limited.
The scenery here attracts many people.
The quality of the roads connecting Ha Tien to other cities has not been improved; tourism services are not really professional; environmental pollution and littering are still occurring.
These are major obstacles that prevent Ha Tien tourism from developing to its full potential.
To overcome the above limitations, in the coming time, Ha Tien City will promote investment in main roads connecting to the city; upgrade and renovate the traffic system in the inner city, creating a synchronous, modern and interconnected direction, contributing to the beautification of the urban appearance, creating a spacious landscape; invest in the restoration and embellishment of relic sites.
Thereby, creating momentum, attracting effective investment resources for high-end resort tourism, luxurious and classy commercial service areas and further developing sea transport services from Ha Tien to Phu Quoc with a general port project to receive 15,000-ton ships.
Connecting land trade with other countries through Ha Tien international border gate, contributing to the socio-economic development of the city and Kien Giang province.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 80 from Ba Hon town intersection, Kien Luong district to National Highway N1 intersection, Ha Tien city has been put into use, creating favorable conditions for tourists to come to Ha Tien.
Nowadays, tourists can easily come to Ha Tien as many roads have been renovated.
However, besides that, the slow progress of many other transport infrastructure projects affects the city's development.
A typical example is the project to upgrade and expand the road to Ha Tien international border gate, Nguyen Phuc Chu street, from Mac Cuu monument park to Mui Tau My Duc park.
In order for Ha Tien tourism to develop more strongly, the city needs to pay attention to developing traffic routes connecting Ha Tien City with other urban areas, as well as completing the main traffic routes of other neighboring urban areas.
