Industrial production index maintains growth momentum
According to the latest report of the Dak Nong Department of Industry and Trade, the province's industrial production index in the first 9 months of 2024 is estimated to increase by 3.99% over the same period in 2023. Of which: Mining industry increased by 2.79%; processing and manufacturing industry increased by 2.92%; electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution industry increased by 5.86%; water supply industry, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 5.86%.
In the first 9 months of the year, industrial production activities in the province were relatively stable, with most products increasing compared to the same period last year. Factories such as cassava starch, alumina, hydropower, solar power, and wind power were mobilized to operate at maximum capacity. Duc Giang - Dak Nong Fertilizer Factory, officially put into operation since August 2023, has a designed capacity of 200,000 tons of NPK and 4,800 tons of Potassium Sulfate/year, estimated to produce about 2,648 tons in the first 9 months of 2024. Therefore, industrial production in the province continues to grow.
Some major industrial products are estimated to increase compared to the same period last year, such as: burnt clay construction bricks are estimated at 47 million, up 45.3%; plywood from wood and similar materials are estimated at 32,554 m3, up 23.1%; cassava starch is estimated at 27,112 tons, up 75.2%; aluminum is estimated at 546 thousand tons, up 8.1%...

The alumina industry is one of Dak Nong's key industries. In April 2024, the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) worked with the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of bauxite projects in the province.
According to the project "Overall development of TKV's bauxite - alumina - aluminum sector to 2030, vision to 2045", in Dak Nong province, TKV will invest in expanding the capacity of Nhan Co alumina complex to about 2 million tons of alumina/year; invest in a new Dak Nong 2 bauxite - alumina - aluminum complex with a capacity of 2 million tons of alumina/year and 0.5 - 1 million tons of aluminum/year.
TKV will also implement 2 exploration projects and 5 bauxite-alumina-alumina projects with a total estimated investment of over 182,000 billion VND. To prepare for the implementation of upcoming projects in Dak Nong, TKV has developed resource plans for investment capital; spending nearly 1,000 billion VND to explore bauxite mines, meeting the implementation of alumina-alumina projects in the province...
Regarding the Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant Project of Tran Hong Quan Metallurgy Company Limited (abbreviated as the Company), according to the Dak Nong Department of Industry and Trade, up to now, the basic construction of the project items has been completed. Currently, the investor has been financially appraised by MB Bank and agreed to arrange sufficient capital for the project, at the same time, the investor has also selected the EPC General Contractor for the package of manufacturing, supplying and installing equipment for the project (NFC Contractor).
In the spirit of the Deputy Prime Minister's direction in Notice No. 97/TB-VPCP dated July 5, 2024 of the Government Office on the Conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on removing difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of the Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant Project, Dak Nong province is currently urging and directing relevant units to implement, continue to accompany the investor to speed up the investment progress, to soon put the plant into operation in the near future.
In addition to developing the aluminum industry, the province has 4 industrial clusters with a total area of 149.61 hectares. Of which, 2 industrial clusters have basically completed investment in infrastructure construction, including: Thuan An Industrial Cluster with 17 investment projects, with a leased land area of 16.68 hectares; registered investment capital of 319.42 billion VND and creating jobs for about 200 workers and the occupancy rate of phase I reached 96%; BMC Industrial Cluster, with 02 investors signing land lease contracts with an area of 26,716 m2 to implement the project.
Strengthening the construction of the power system in the province
Regarding the current status of the power grid, according to the plan in 2024, Dak Nong province will invest in building 42km of new medium-voltage lines, renovating 30km of medium-voltage lines, 89km of low-voltage lines, renovating 28km of low-voltage lines, 67 transformer stations with a total capacity of 8,535kVA, and renovating 38 transformer stations with a total capacity of 5,212kVA.
As a result, up to now, the province has 2,193 km of medium voltage lines, 2,436 km of low voltage lines and 2,782 transformer stations with a total capacity of 751.37KVA, ensuring stable and safe power supply for production and daily life activities, serving socio-economic development and national defense and security in the locality.
Currently, in the province, the rate of households using electricity is 99.2%; villages and hamlets with electricity is 100%.
In addition, Dak Nong also has great potential for renewable energy. According to the draft report on the Power Plan VIII of the Institute of Energy, Dak Nong has a technical potential for ground-mounted solar power of 59,010 MW, wind power of 6,318 MW (wind speed 2.5 - 6 m/s), biomass power of 116 MW...
Up to now, Dak Nong has put into operation 2 solar power projects with a total capacity of 106 MWp (Cu Jut and Truc Son solar power), 1 wind power project with a capacity of 50 MW (Dak Hoa wind power). The province has proposed to add 10 solar power projects with a capacity of 872 MWp and 14 wind power projects with a total capacity of 1,004 MW to the planning. In addition, there are 22 hydropower plants in operation with a total capacity of 1,640 MW...
With its natural resources, Dak Nong province has determined to promote the development of alumina and aluminum smelting industrial production; at the same time, it focuses on expanding the scale and increasing the proportion of wind power, solar power, and biomass power, creating momentum to shift the province's economic structure towards industrialization and modernization, narrowing the economic gap compared to other localities in the Central Highlands and the whole country.
