VTV.vn - "All for the front line, all for victory", countless human and material resources were directed to Dien Bien Phu to prepare for the unprecedented great battle in the resistance war against France.
Exactly 70 years ago, after the decision to launch the Dien Bien Phu campaign, a Front Supply Council chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Van Dong was also established. At that time, "All for the front, all for victory" was not only a slogan but also an order of action that was enthusiastically responded to by the people in the free zones as well as in the temporarily occupied zones. Countless human and material resources were directed to Dien Bien Phu to prepare for an unprecedentedly large battle in the resistance war against the French. Serving the Dien Bien Phu campaign became a heroic revolutionary movement that created miracles that the enemy could not have expected. At the Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum, in the room of artifacts from the years of resistance against the French colonialists, there is a very special pack-bike. This pack-bike once set a record for transporting 3.5 quintals/trip to participate in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, equivalent to 7 bags of rice. And the French could not have imagined that the bicycle they produced could become a powerful weapon to help the Viet Minh win.
During the entire Dien Bien Phu campaign, about 30,000 bicycles were mobilized to transport food, provisions, and ammunition. More than 260,000 frontline laborers contributed 14 million working days along with youth volunteers to break rocks and open the shortest paths to the front. Doctor Ton That Tung's operating room, as well as teachers and students from the University of Medicine, were present on the battlefield. In the forest, doctor Dang Van Ngu successfully prepared Penicillin with the ability to fight infections so that wounded soldiers could return to their combat units without having their limbs amputated. Many artists were present in Dien Bien Phu from the very first day of the campaign. Artistic teams served the soldiers right in the trenches... 70 years ago, Pha Din Pass was a "fire coordinate" and a "bomb bag" for most of the campaign. Bombs and bullets could not stop the will and courage of the soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline laborers. The wheelbarrow lies silently at the Dien Bien Provincial Museum after completing its historic mission, part of the wheel made from an altar board. Sacrificing even the most sacred things for the goal of national independence is also the clearest proof of the spirit of determination to defeat foreign invaders at any cost.
