The leader of Binh Tan District People's Committee said that the number of 5-year-old children entering kindergarten in the district is 6,878; the number of 6-year-old children entering first grade is 10,196; the number of 5th grade students entering sixth grade is 10,530. Binh Tan District is lacking 1,226 classrooms for primary and secondary schools.
With a large number of school-age children and limited classrooms, the district has set a public investment target for the 2020-2025 period focusing on school projects.
In the 2024-2025 period, the district will allocate VND10,231 billion for 101 projects, including 42 projects in the education and training sector with VND4,819 billion. The district also developed a project to implement public investment in schools, with the goal of building 700-1,000 classrooms by 2025.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Binh Tan district will put into operation 7 new public schools (1 kindergarten, 5 primary schools and 1 secondary school) with 204 classrooms, bringing the total number of classrooms to 4,061 (public is 2,131 classrooms).
With an estimated number of 124,237 students (public schools are 97,907), the locality has basically solved the problem of finding places for students to study. Thanks to 7 new school buildings, it is expected that in the next school year, the number of students per class at primary level will decrease (37 students per class), while the number of students per class at secondary level will remain stable at 45 students compared to the previous school year.

In 2025, Binh Tan will continue to invest in 16 schools, bringing the total number of classrooms to 2,238. Of which, the district will build 2 schools on the cleared land of Binh Hung Hoa cemetery.
Not only that, the People's Committee of Binh Tan District proposed that Ho Chi Minh City continue to supplement medium-term investment for the period 2026-2030 for 23 schools with 709 classrooms. The District will coordinate with departments and branches to review land funds of corporations that are currently vacant to build schools; call for socialized investment in primary and secondary schools.
It can be seen that this is the school year that Binh Tan district has the most new classrooms put into use in many years. This is an effort to complete the educational goals for the period 2021-2025, reaching the target of 300/10,000 people of school age according to the resolution of the district party congress. In particular, the project to build 4,500 classrooms step by step to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is being implemented.
