7 flights delayed taking off at Tan Son Nhat due to heavy rain

From 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on August 31, Tan Son Nhat Airport recorded 7 flights delayed due to bad weather. Of these, 6 were Vietjet Airlines flights and one was Vietravel Airlines flight.

This information was confirmed by a representative of the Southern Airports Authority on the same afternoon.

Most flights were delayed by 30-60 minutes, including flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat, Buon Ma Thuot, Tho Xuan airport (Thanh Hoa), Chu Lai and Hanoi.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporters, a representative of the Southern Airports Authority said that after the weather stabilized, flights have returned to normal operations. The agency continues to closely monitor the operations of airlines to promptly handle any emergency situations.

The representative of the Southern Port Authority also said that on the first day of the September 2 holiday, the airport has increased its staff to serve passengers. In addition, airlines and ground services have also been assigned additional staff to guide and assist passengers. Aviation security forces monitor and coordinate with taxi companies to regulate vehicles to pick up passengers in a timely manner.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the first day of the September 2 holiday (August 31), the Central Highlands and the Southeast region will have scattered rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall reaching over 80mm. The lowest temperature will be from 23-26 degrees and the highest from 30-33 degrees.

During the four-day National Day holiday on September 2, Tan Son Nhat Airport is expected to welcome nearly 500,000 passengers, an average of more than 120,000 passengers per day.

On August 31 alone, Tan Son Nhat Airport operated 644 flights, serving about 100,000 passengers. Of these, more than 55,000 passengers passed through the domestic terminal, while 45,000 passengers passed through the international terminal.
