Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that in the first 6 months of 2024, the commercial electricity output of the entire system increased by 14.3%.
Report of EVN shows that in the first 6 months of 2024, the unit has ensured safe and stable electricity supply, serving socio-economic development, meeting people's daily needs, in the context of continuously increasing electricity demand. EVN's operation of the power system and electricity market has closely followed the approved plan.
The total electricity production and import output of the entire system in the first 6 months of 2024 reached 151.74 billion kWh, an increase of 12.4% over the same period in 2023. The highest load demand and electricity consumption in the first 6 months of the year both occurred in June 2024, specifically: The largest daily electricity consumption output (June 14, 2024) reached 1.02 billion kWh and the largest capacity reached 49,533 MW (June 19, 2024), respectively increasing by 11.05% and 7.87% over the same period in the first 6 months of 2023.
In the first 6 months, the output and proportion of mobilized electricity from hydropower reached 28.63 billion kWh, accounting for 18.9%; coal-fired thermal power reached 86.34 billion kWh, accounting for 56.9%; gas turbines reached 13.12 billion kWh, accounting for 8.6%; renewable energy reached 20.73 billion kWh, accounting for 13.7% (of which solar power reached 13.91 billion kWh, wind power reached 6.15 billion kWh); imported electricity reached 2.56 billion kWh, accounting for 1.7%.
Cumulative electricity transmission output in the first 6 months of 2024 reached 121.47 billion kWh, an increase of 13.1% over the same period in 2023. In which, the capacity and output of electricity transmission from the Central and Southern regions to the North are often maintained at a high level to increase electricity supply to the North.
Output commercial electricity The total electricity consumption of the Group in the first 6 months of the year reached 135.64 billion kWh, an increase of 14.3% over the same period, in which the electricity growth of some typical components is as follows: Electricity for daily life increased by 16.07%, electricity for industry - construction increased by 12.8%, electricity for trade - services increased by 16.58%, electricity for agriculture increased by 14.02%...
In the first 6 months of 2024, EVN also organized high-level operations of Hoa Binh, Thac Ba and Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plants to supplement water sources as required by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, while ensuring power supply for pumping stations and in-field pumps operating to serve the 2023-2024 Winter-Spring rice crop for the provinces of the Northern Midlands and Delta. The total amount of water discharged from hydropower reservoirs is 2.78 billion m3 , saving 0.72 billion m3. water compared to the expected plan.
Regarding business and customer service, in the first 6 months of 2024, with an assessment score of 74.76/100 points, EVN is the leading unit among 21 ministries and branches providing online services for people and businesses on the National Public Service Portal (NPSP) with 12 services (including electricity bill payment service and 11 online electricity services at level 4 - the highest level of e-Government). The assessment is based on real-time data on the NPSP, according to 5 groups of indicators including: Publicity, transparency; progress, settlement results; digitalization of records; provision of online services; satisfaction level.
In addition to power supply, in the first 6 months of the year, EVN also started 47 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 57 power grid projects from 110 kV to 500 kV. Received Phu My 3 Power Plant from March 1, 2024 and discussed and negotiated with PVN/PVGAS to supply gas to Phu My 3 plant.

The maximum system capacity can be over 52,000 MW.
According to EVN, the implementation of the plan in July and the last 6 months of 2024 is forecast to continue to face many difficulties affecting the production and business results and financial situation of EVN and its units, such as: Ensuring electricity supply in the context of high load demand, at the same time it is the rainy and stormy season in the Northern and Central regions; ensuring financial balance continues to be greatly affected by input factors (such as fuel prices, exchange rates...).
In July 2024, extreme heat is still forecast to occur in the North. The maximum capacity of the entire system may be over 52,000 MW, and in the North alone it may be over 27,000 MW. The average daily electricity consumption of the entire system is expected to be around 920.5 million kWh/day, an increase of 10.15% over the same period in 2023.
To be proactive in ensuring stable, safe and reliable electricity supply for the national power system, EVN directs all units to continue to strictly implement Official Dispatch 38/CD-TTg dated April 15, 2024 and the directions of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises.
Accordingly, continue to closely monitor meteorological and hydrological developments, fuel situation, generator availability and load growth to promptly update and adjust appropriate operating methods. Ensure stable, safe and reliable system operation; optimally mobilize power sources, combined with maximum transmission from the Central region to the North. Although optimally mobilizing hydropower to economically operate the national power system, it is still necessary to closely monitor the water situation in each hydropower reservoir, calculate and update daily operating methods to effectively use water resources, while ensuring the goal of storing water to the normal water level by the end of 2024 to prepare for the 2025 dry season, while ensuring no reduction in the available capacity of hydropower plants, meeting load demand.
EVN also directed Power Corporations/Power Companies to continue to closely follow the local socio-economic development situation to analyze the load structure and forecast electricity demand to develop monthly/quarterly electricity supply plans; continue to implement Directive No. 20 on promoting and implementing electricity saving.
Directing Power Generation Corporations and power plants to focus on monitoring coal supply, preparing backup plans, ensuring sufficient fuel for power production and maintaining reserve inventory levels according to regulations. Continuing to closely coordinate with PVN, TKV, Dong Bac Coal Corporation and investors of other power sources to ensure sufficient fuel supply for power production according to system demand; strengthening inspection and supervision of power plants, especially coal-fired thermal power plants in the North, to ensure the availability and reliability of generators.
Direct the National Power Transmission Corporation to proactively review, fix, and prevent grid incidents, improve reliability, and reduce power loss; strengthen monitoring and compliance with operational discipline.
At the same time, units are required to strictly comply with the Group's instructions on natural disaster prevention and search and rescue; prepare plans for storm and flood prevention, ensure the safety of dams and hydroelectric works, and ensure safety for downstream areas during this year's storm and flood season, which is forecasted to have many unusual developments in storms and floods.
Continue to implement approved construction investment plans; promote propaganda on electricity saving...
