Quenching the thirst for AI and cloud computing human resources
At the sideline discussion of AWS Cloud Day Vietnam, Mr. Emmanuel Pillai - Director of AWS ASEAN Training and Certification, shared about AWS's strategy and contributions to the development of digital human resources in Vietnam.
Accordingly, AWS commits to training more than 29 million people worldwide in cloud computing and AI by 2025. In Vietnam alone, AWS has trained more than 50,000 workers with cloud computing and AI skills, helping to improve the capacity of thousands of individuals and organizations.
“We recognize that there is a huge gap in AI skills training. AWS research shows that 72% of employers cannot find the right talent to meet their needs for AI and cloud computing skills. We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars to equip the workforce with these skills,” Pillai stressed.
With more than 15 years of experience in the field of cloud computing, Mr. Duong Ngoc Toan - Head of Cloud Department at FinX and HDBank has witnessed many positive changes since the bank applied cloud computing technology to its working process.
“Cloud computing is not just a technology but also an extremely effective tool to accelerate innovation and improve internal processes. At HDBank, thanks to AWS, product development time has been 40-60% faster, allowing us to provide better services and quickly respond to customer needs,” said Mr. Toan.
Thanks to AWS solutions, HDBank has developed flexible and scalable systems, which are especially important during peak periods such as the Lunar New Year holiday, when financial transactions skyrocket. The reliability of the AWS-supported system has helped HDBank provide seamless and secure financial services to its customers.
However, the problem the bank faces is how to find and train human resources with specialized skills in cloud computing and AI. "Recruiting the right talent in this field is a big challenge. That's why we cooperate with AWS and participate in training programs such as AWS First Cloud Journey. Through this, engineers not only gain solid technical skills but also develop an open and creative mindset, contributing positively to the innovation process," Toan shared.
The course helps many young engineers achieve their dreams
One of the success stories from AWS training program is the case of two engineers Nguyen Tran Quang Nguyen and Nguyen Huy Dinh. Both are students of AWS First Cloud Journey course and are currently working at HDBank.
On his journey from an Aeronautical Engineering student to a cloud engineer, Nguyen Tran Quang Nguyen, Cloud and DevOps engineer at HDBank, has encountered many challenges.
With the support of the AWS community, Nguyen passed the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate exam and from there had the opportunity to work at HDBank. “I was fortunate to have the AWS First Cloud Journey community support, not only in terms of technical aspects but also in building team spirit and social skills,” Nguyen shared.
Like Nguyen, engineer Nguyen Huy Dinh also has a remarkable journey. Born and raised in Ben Tre, Huy Dinh initially studied Mechanical Engineering and worked in this field at a Japanese company. However, with a passion for exploring new technologies, he decided to switch to cloud computing and joined the AWS First Cloud Journey program to make this dream come true.
Huy said that the AWS First Cloud Journey course gave him the necessary knowledge to apply to his practical work at HDBank, where he is currently a cloud data engineer.
"Thanks to this course, I can now easily build and manage a big data system, processing millions of data rows with just a few simple operations on the cloud platform," Huy Dinh said. For him, cloud computing not only helps reduce operating costs but also increases the flexibility and scalability of the banking data system.
Through training programs such as AWS First Cloud Journey, thousands of workers have been equipped with important skills to access and master cloud computing and AI technology. The stories of Nguyen Tran Quang Nguyen and Nguyen Huy Dinh are living proof of the success of these programs, and affirm AWS’s vision and commitment to developing technology talent for the future of Vietnam.
“We are committed to building a diverse portfolio of training programs, from the unemployed to students and working professionals. For the Vietnamese market, we have customized programs to meet the specific needs of businesses and workers,” emphasized the Director of AWS ASEAN Training and Certification.
With a goal of training more than 2 million people globally in AI and cloud computing skills over the next 2 years, AWS is helping build a workforce ready to meet the challenges of the digital age.
