There are currently about 14 phone manufacturers in the world that have reached the threshold of 200 million units shipped globally. According to a report by market research firm Counterpoint Research, the list has just been shaken up in terms of position in the Top 5 companies selling the most smartphones in the shortest time when Realme officially reached sales of 200 million devices sold.
Apple is still the company with the fastest device consumption rate, topping the chart. The next positions are Samsung, Huawei, Vivo. Thus, 3 out of 5 manufacturers selling 200 million devices in the shortest time are from China. Notably, Vivo and Realme are two brands belonging to the same Chinese group BBK Electronics - the unit that also owns the Oppo brand.
Realme enters the Top 5 fastest selling smartphone companies in the world after 5 years of market launch
Realme is a young brand when it appeared on the market about 5 years ago. According to a report by Counterpoint Research, in 2017, there were more than 700 phone manufacturers in the world, but by September 2023, this number had dropped to 250.
"We entered a market where there are over 700 smartphone manufacturers operating and are proud to enter the Top 10 largest enterprises after 5 years," said Mr. Xu Qi, Marketing Director of Realme.
Known as a brand specializing in mid-range and low-cost smartphones, Realme recently announced that it is ready to "attack" the high-end segment with the first product being the GT 5 Pro - a model with Qualcomm's newest and most advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and equipped with a LYT-T808 camera sensor (supporting OSI optical image stabilization) manufactured by Sony.
Some rumors about other configurations of the product include a 6.78-inch OLED screen with 1.5K resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate or up to 16 GB of RAM. The device may come with a 5,400 mAh battery, supporting 100W fast charging via cable or 50W wireless charging. However, there is no information about whether Realme will bring this product to the international market or just limit it to China.
