A recent report by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) shows that some jobs in Thailand are expected to grow significantly, while others may become obsolete. FTI is currently developing a comprehensive plan to prepare the local workforce to meet future labor market needs.
According to the report, the top five jobs with the greatest growth potential include: Artificial intelligence and machine learning specialist, sustainability specialist, business intelligence specialist, data security analyst, and financial technology engineer.
As technology advances, artificial intelligence and machine learning experts will be needed to develop and support intelligent systems. Sustainability experts will play a key role in introducing environmentally friendly practices across industries.
Business intelligence professionals and financial technology engineers are needed to manage the complexities of modern commerce. Data security analysts ensure the security of sensitive information in an increasingly digital environment.
On the other hand, the report also highlights five occupations that are expected to 'disappear' in the coming years. These include: Banking service staff, postal administrative staff, ticket tellers and sellers, basic data entry staff and executive personal secretaries. These jobs can easily be replaced by machines and digital systems thanks to automation and technological advances.
FTI is currently actively collaborating with its members, as well as relevant public and private organizations to review data and develop a comprehensive plan to build and develop a future-ready Thai workforce.
By identifying which occupations are expected to grow and which are at risk of being affected, the Thai labor market can better adapt to the changing economic landscape.
