Authorities discovered 40 tons of pork infected with African swine fever virus and blue ear disease in two cold storages in Chuong My district, Hanoi.
On January 19, Market Management Team No. 25, Hanoi Market Management Department coordinated with Chuong My District Police, Chuong My District Agricultural Service Center, and Huu Van Commune Police to inspect the cold storage of Mr. Nguyen Ba Minh (born in 1976, residing in Quang Trung village, Huu Van commune, Chuong My district).
At the time of the inspection, Mr. Minh admitted that his warehouse contained about 4 tons of food. However, the actual amount of goods that the working group discovered in Mr. Minh's two cold storages was 40 tons of pork of unknown origin.

On the same afternoon, the working group took two meat samples from two cold storages for analysis, appraisal and sealed the entire cold storages, handing them over to Huu Van Commune Police and Mr. Nguyen Ba Minh for management until receiving comments from the authorities.
Test results from the Central Veterinary Diagnostic Center, Department of Animal Health showed that both samples were positive for African swine fever virus; one sample was positive for North American strain of PRRS virus (blue ear disease). The above two viruses are dangerous epidemic viruses, causing disease spread, and must be declared as epidemics.
Working with the authorities, Mr. Nguyen Ba Minh confessed that he collected all of the above goods from markets in Huu Van commune and some neighboring communes in Chuong My district at a price of several thousand VND/kg.
He stored the above goods for a period of around July 2023 in a cold storage on his family's livestock farm to make fish feed and sell to fish farming households who need to buy meat to make fish feed for profit.
However, Mr. Minh was freezing pork and had not yet used it as fish feed or sold it when he was discovered.
The entire quantity of violating goods was directed by the Steering Committee 389 of Chuong My district to the functional forces to supervise and force the facility to destroy all of them.
