(Dan Tri) - The fact that 4 private school students were included in the national math team for 12th graders in Hanoi is unprecedented.
On the afternoon of October 23, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) announced the list of 260 members of 13 national teams of excellent students in cultural subjects at high school level for the 2024-2025 school year.
Notably, Hanoi's national excellent student teams this year include many private school students.
4/20 members of the math team are students of Newton Secondary and High School. Among them, Ha Dang An is in 10th grade.
The math team has another 10th grader, Ha Manh Hung from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. Hung was the valedictorian of the math major at Ams and the Pedagogical High School last year.

In addition to the four students on the math team, Newton School also has one student on the physics team.
The Japanese team has 3 students from Japan International Middle and High School, and 1 student from Hoang Long High School.
The Chinese team has 1 student from Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School, 1 student from Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School.
The biology team has 1 student from Doan Thi Diem Secondary and High School.
In addition, many students from non-specialized public high schools were also selected for the national team such as Nguyen Gia Thieu High School, Kim Lien High School, Viet Duc High School, Tran Hung Dao High School (Ha Dong), Phan Huy Chu High School (Dong Da), Ngo Quyen High School (Ba Vi).
The number of students not from specialized schools participating in Hanoi's national team this year is up to nearly 8%.
Mr. Le Trung Kien - Principal of Nguyen Gia Thieu High School - expressed his joy and pride when this was the first year the school had 3 students on the national team.
"This is the result of the school's key training efforts, but even greater is the students' efforts in studying," said Mr. Kien.
The Hanoi team of excellent students participating in the national excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year has increased by 26 students compared to last year, mainly students from 4 specialized schools: Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay.
The goal of the capital's education sector this year is to increase the number and quality of awards compared to last year's exam, continuing to be in the top units with the movement to foster high-quality excellent students nationwide.
The 2024-2025 National High School Excellent Student Exam is implemented according to the 2018 general education program. Physics, chemistry, and biology do not have a practical part in round 1, but there is still a test on the practical plan.
The training time for provincial teams will be shorter than last year because the Ministry of Education and Training moved the exam schedule up nearly 2 months earlier than usual, taking place on December 25-27.
