On the afternoon of December 13, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SOC) - Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, closed a training course on Vietnamese language teaching methods for SOC teachers.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Manh Dong said that this was the 12th training course organized by the Committee. The success of the training courses is always associated with the enthusiasm of experts in Vietnamese language teaching methods. "I believe that with the knowledge and skills that teachers have acquired in this training course, they will successfully apply them to teaching practice. Vietnamese language classes will not only be a place to learn, but also a place to awaken love for the homeland and country in the hearts of young generations of overseas Vietnamese...", Mr. Dong emphasized.

At the closing ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, Chairman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, expressed his concern: “For our compatriots abroad, the next generation not knowing Vietnamese is a big concern, because if they do not know Vietnamese, they will not know or understand Vietnamese culture. Therefore, teaching Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese is very important…”. Mr. Binh also hopes that the Association will cooperate with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to organize more Vietnamese language programs for Overseas Vietnamese.

Student Hoang Thi Lai, an overseas Vietnamese in Thailand, confided: “We deeply understand that losing the Vietnamese language means losing our race and our roots, so when we return to Thailand, we will organize more Vietnamese language teaching programs to restore Vietnamese language for our children and the Vietnamese community in Thailand.”
