On the evening of June 27, information from the People's Committee of An Thinh commune, Van Yen district (Yen Bai) said that at around 4:30 p.m. the same day, NVO (10 years old, in An Phu village, An Thinh commune) was crossing the spillway of Ngoi Buc stream, Lam Truong area, and was unfortunately swept away by the water, both his bicycle and himself.

Seeing little O. struggling in the rushing stream, Mr. Cuong and Mr. Kien (in An Thinh commune, Van Yen district) ignored the danger and jumped into the flood water to rescue the victim.
In a moment, baby O. and the bicycle were brought safely to shore by two men.
A representative of the People's Committee of An Thinh commune said that the actions of Mr. Kien and Mr. Cuong were very brave and timely, thanks to which they saved the little girl who was swept away by the water.
In recent days, in Van Yen district (Yen Bai), there has been prolonged heavy rain, causing water levels in rivers and streams to rise.
Faced with the complicated developments of floods and rains, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Van Yen district has directed localities to closely monitor flood forecasts and warnings and provide timely information to the people.
