Host country France has chosen two Vietnamese dishes to serve athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Paris 2024 Olympic website announced that it will serve two Vietnamese dishes to athletes, pho and spring rolls. Pho appears in all three main meals for athletes every day. The French host gave spring rolls a special description.
Instead of being called by popular names like "Spring Roll", "Chinese Spring Roll" as before, the organizers call the dish by the word "nem" and introduce that this is "Vietnamese cuisine".

According to nutritionists, Vietnamese pho is a carbohydrate-rich dish, providing suitable energy for athletes in the pre-competition stage. From a psychological perspective, Vietnamese athletes eating familiar dishes will create good mental momentum for competition.
In addition to pho and spring rolls, many dishes are familiar to Vietnamese athletes such as boiled eggs, chicken, beef. The dining area is divided into 6 separate rooms serving different culinary styles such as Asian, European, Muslim,... to suit the culture of each country. In addition, some street foods, desserts, drinks are served separately with about 11 side rooms.
The meals for athletes at this Olympics are prepared by top chefs. In all dishes, the homepage of the Paris 2024 Olympics clearly describes the nutritional content and energy levels so that athletes can easily calculate their portions. Unlike some previous Olympics, Paris 2024 refuses to serve some fast foods that are high in fat.
If athletes do not want to eat communal food, they can request their own dishes and the host country will prepare them. Looking back at previous Olympics, Vietnamese dishes have appeared on the menu many times. In Japan 3 years ago, pho was also chosen by the host but the meat was high-quality Wagyu beef from the land of the rising sun.
At the 2016 Rio de Janiero Olympics, athletes were served stir-fried pho, and this is a dish that many international athletes "hunt for".
