After receiving information reflecting on the management and service of the national youth table tennis team training at the My Dinh National Sports Complex (Hanoi), the Department of Physical Education and Sports worked with relevant departments to verify the incident.
On the afternoon of October 4, the Department of Physical Education and Sports issued a decision on replacing and adding coaches to the national youth table tennis team in 2023.
Accordingly, the Department of Physical Education and Sports decided to stop training for Mr. Bui Xuan Ha (head coach) and Mr. To Minh, starting from October 5.
The decision also clearly states that Mr. Vu Van Trung (Hanoi) will be appointed as head coach and Mr. Vu Dinh Tuan (Hanoi National Sports Training Center) will be appointed as coach of the national youth table tennis team, from October 6 to December 31, 2023.
Previously, in a video posted by Tien Phong Newspaper, an athlete of the national youth table tennis team practicing at the My Dinh National Sports Complex said the meals were not filling enough and lacked nutrition.
It is worth mentioning that the meal cost 800,000 VND for 8 athletes but only had fried tofu, braised fish, fried spring rolls, a plate of boiled vegetables and a bowl of tomato soup.
On the afternoon of October 3, the leaders of the Department of Physical Education and Sports directed the transfer of the national youth table tennis team to the Nhon center to continue training.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports affirmed that it will continue to investigate to rectify and overcome existing problems in the management and training of national teams in general and national youth table tennis in particular.
