In the first 11 months of the year, Australia imported nearly 470 thousand tons of clinker and cement from Vietnam, equivalent to 23.3 million USD, up 171% in volume and 153% in value. Before 2013, Australia's cement imports were mainly from China (48%), Taiwan (43%) and Thailand (7%). However, since 2013, Vietnamese cement and clinker have established a foothold in the Australian market and their market share has been increasing rapidly.

Statistics from the Ministry of Construction show that in the first 11 months of 2023, cement consumption in the whole industry reached about 80 million tons, down 12% over the same period in 2022. Of which, cement consumption in the domestic market was 52 million tons, down 16%; export output reached nearly 29 million tons, down 29% over the same period.
