Back to school day

This morning (August 28), nearly 1.7 million preschoolers and students from grades 1 to 12 in Ho Chi Minh City returned to school for the new school year 2023-2024.

Accordingly, this new school year, Ho Chi Minh City increased by nearly 40,000 students compared to last year, of which the secondary school level increased the most with about 34,000 students.

A notable new feature of this school year is that for the first time, Ho Chi Minh City has specified a list of 26 fees, in addition to tuition fees, that are allowed to be collected in schools. In addition, each fee clearly states the maximum fee. Schools use this as a basis to set their own fees and must not exceed the general fee regulations of Ho Chi Minh City.

At Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1), teacher Tran Thi Van and the parent representative committee of class 9/4 prepared the room, name tags, and student seating positions early in the morning to welcome students to class with a sense of surprise and excitement to start the new school year.

Student Duong Nguyen Khoi Nhi (grade 9/4) was eager to return to school after a full summer vacation of nearly 3 months. Khoi Nhi shared: "Our whole group is looking forward to the day we go back to school. Although we know this is a stressful final year, each of us reminds ourselves to try our best to get into grade 10 at our favorite school."

It is known that Nguyen Du Secondary School organizes the school year for students by grade level. Accordingly, students from grades 7 to 9 will return to school on August 28. The school will spend tomorrow morning, August 29, organizing the school year for students in grade 6. School leaders said that the school wants to spend more time helping students and parents of new students understand and grasp information, to have the best start for the 4-year journey of secondary school.

6th grade students happily connect with their seniors at school

At Luong The Vinh High School (District 1), the school held a festival to welcome 6th and 10th grade students on the morning of August 28.

As a secondary school with two levels of secondary and high school, Luong The Vinh High School created a joyful atmosphere for students of different grades to connect with each other. Accordingly, students of other grades set up food stalls to welcome students of grades 6 and 10.

Mr. Vo Thanh Tam, a parent of a 6th grade student at Luong The Vinh High School, said: "I have 2 daughters, and today I take them to school with 2 emotions. I decorate and prepare food to welcome them to 6th grade. I hope my 2 daughters will always be happy and fulfilled at the school they love."

Try to ensure 100% of students attend the opening ceremony

Also today, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has instructed schools on how to prepare for the opening day of the new school year. Accordingly, the opening ceremony will have two parts: a short spiritual ceremony, about 60 minutes; a festive part to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for students on the first day of the new school year.

Depending on each grade level, the school will have its own program and characteristics. Specifically, the kindergarten organizes the Children's Happy School Day. In particular, the school focuses on organizing diverse and rich forms of activities suitable for each unit; taking advantage of space to arrange activities such as: physical games, aesthetic development activities, folk games, circus, puppetry... creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for children.

10th grade students on the first day of school

For schools from elementary to high school, the school tries to ensure 100% of students attend the opening ceremony. Schools that do not meet the requirements must ensure 100% of first and last grade students attend the ceremony, but must ensure 100% of students attend the festival welcoming the new school year.
