On Tuesday (8/10), the Russian military said in a statement that the Caesar self-propelled gun was discovered at a firing position in a forest in Ukraine's Sumy region.
In this attack, the Russian military used medium- and long-range Inokhodets drones. The combination of the Inokhodets drone with the Kh-BPLA laser-guided missile has shown its effectiveness when deployed on the front line.
Paragraph video The image shared by the Russian military showed a powerful explosion, apparently a secondary explosion caused by hitting an ammunition depot.
The Caesar self-propelled gun was jointly developed by French arms manufacturer Nexter Systems and German defense group Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. The Caesar is compatible with all NATO 155mm artillery shells and has a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute. The system can also fire 3 rounds in 18 seconds thanks to its semi-automatic loading system. A notable feature of the Caesar self-propelled gun is its wheeled truck chassis, a design that makes it highly mobile and easy to maintain.
During the offensive on Russia's Kursk region, Kiev forces made extensive use of Western-supplied artillery, including French-made Caesar self-propelled guns. Many systems operating in Russia and Ukraine's Sumy region were destroyed by counter-battery fire, as well as drone and missile attacks.
The ongoing border battle at Kursk has seen the unexpected return of Russian medium- and long-range drones to the battlefield. Both Kiev and Moscow have been actively using drones since the early days of the conflict. However, medium- and long-range drones have rarely achieved positive results in combat due to the effective operation of air defense, electronic warfare, and early warning systems.
However, in the Kursk region, this cover was no longer there. Ukrainian forces launched attacks without adequate protection, allowing medium- and long-range drones to freely move over the battlefield.
In recent weeks, Russian drones have also been operating very effectively in Sumy (an area close to the border with Russia) and deep into the rear of Ukraine.

On the Donbass front, fierce battles are also taking place. In the strategic city of Chasov Yar, the Russian army has won victories.
According to SF, after a series of attacks on the streets, the Russian army broke through the Ukrainian defenses and entered the Zhovtnevy district. The Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered many losses and were forced to retreat west of Vatytina Street. Remember, the Russian control zone on the southern bank of the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal was expanded. This will give the Russian army an advantage in the next attacks.
Earlier, the Russian army had gained full control of the Kanal district, located on the northern bank of the canal. In the east of the city, the Ukrainian army continued to resist. However, in the Oktyabrsky district, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were forced to retreat as Russia launched repeated attacks. Control of the Oktyabrsky district allowed the Russian army to seize the next heights in the city.
Chasov Yar is a strategically important city because it is located on high ground. Controlling the city means controlling the high ground, thereby controlling the firepower of large areas from a distance.
