On October 9, former US President Donald Trump declined an invitation to participate in a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris scheduled by Fox News on October 24 or October 27.

On the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump said that it was "too late" to hold a debate because voters had already gone to the polls early. He affirmed that he would not participate in a second debate with Ms. Harris because "there is nothing to debate."

Former President Trump also explained that he had previously accepted Fox News' invitation to debate on September 4, but Ms. Harris declined.

Mr. Trump participated in two live debates, first with US President Joe Biden in late June and then with Vice President Harris on the evening of September 10.

Mr. Trump refused to participate in the debate with Ms. Harris on October 23 on CNN, even though she agreed to face him.

The US presidential election is entering a decisive phase, with less than a month left until the official voting day of November 5.
