Mr. Nguyen Thu (92 years old, veteran of Hai Ba Trung district, former officer of Regiment 102 - Capital Regiment, Division 308 - Vanguard Army Division) recalls that when he was just 22 years old, full of youthful aspirations and enthusiasm, he was an infantry platoon leader of the Capital Regiment, Vanguard Army Division 308 when he took over the capital Hanoi. Looking back after 70 years, Mr. Nguyen Thu shared that the soldiers of the past were extremely proud and excited about the dramatic changes in the capital and the country. Chapter I has the theme “Proud Memories”, including 5 scenes: “Hanoi – Winter Days of 1946”; “The Call for National Resistance”; “The Party Flag”; “Hanoi People” and “Liberating Dien Bien – Marching to Hanoi”, vividly recreating the heroic atmosphere of the Capital after the success of the August Revolution. On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
