Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Johny Srouji, has confirmed that the iPhone 16 series will come with 8GB of RAM across all models.

“Our goal is to create the best products that deliver great user experiences. When it comes to Apple Intelligence, DRAM is a key factor. Whether it’s chips, hardware, or software, we always aim to optimize performance without wasting resources,” This leader said.

This is also the first time the iPhone giant has publicly confirmed the RAM specifications of their smartphone models. Srouji also added that the additional RAM also helps to “significantly” enhance tasks such as playing high-end (AAA) games.

Meanwhile, the Cupertino-based company also announced that iOS 18 will not bring Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 15, which only has 6GB of RAM, instead requiring AI hardware that can only be supported from the iPhone 15 Pro and above.

In June, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence, which includes many new AI features such as Writing Tools, Mail management, automatic recording summarization, Image Playground image generator, personalized Siri virtual assistant experience, and deep integration of ChatGPT on the device.

However, currently, AI on the iPhone still focuses on tasks such as message summaries or notifications, instead of other flashy features like competitors. Not to mention, the first AI features will only appear in the iOS 18.1 update, expected to be released in October, and will be added gradually until 10.
