11/9 date, in the Capital Ha Noi, a high-level meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party took place. This is an important cooperation mechanism in the relationship between the two Parties and two countries, contributing to strengthening and deepening the special solidarity between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Laos.
At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith informed each other about the situation of each Party and each country, including Party building and socio-economic development; discussed the international and regional situation and issues of mutual concern; assessed the results of cooperation between the two Parties and countries in recent times, and agreed on major orientations for Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the coming time.
The two General Secretaries and Presidents congratulated each other on the important and historic achievements that the people of the two countries have attained in the renovation process as well as in implementing the Resolution of the Congress of each Party; thanked the wholehearted and sincere assistance that the two Parties, two countries and peoples have given each other up to now; emphasized the historical tradition of solidarity, close ties and mutual assistance; affirmed that the Vietnam-Laos relationship is a priceless common asset of the two peoples, an objective necessity and the greatest source of strength for the two Parties, two States and peoples, which needs to continue to be promoted, preserved and passed on to future generations.

The two leaders also expressed their delight at the increasingly good development of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia relationship and attached great importance to and wished to promote the cooperation between the three Parties and three countries, including implementing the results of the meeting between the three leaders of the three Parties as well as other tripartite cooperation mechanisms.

At the meeting, Prime minister Goverment Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture-education, science and technology. At the same time, they proposed a number of cooperation directions and specific measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation. The two Prime Ministers emphasized the need to create a breakthrough in economic and trade development to match the stature of political relations and the potential and strengths of each country, focusing on resolving the remaining issues in cooperation, promoting connectivity and complementarity between the two economies of Vietnam and Laos and between the three economies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
The leaders of the two Parties and two countries agreed that in the coming time, they need to actively implement the key orientations agreed upon by the Leaders of both sides, continue to deepen political relations, which is the core of the overall orientation of the cooperative relationship; closely coordinate on strategic issues, and prepare well for the organization of Party Congresses at all levels towards the National Congress of each Party; and further strengthen and promote the pillar of cooperation in defense and security.
The leaders of the two sides agreed to enhance timely information exchange, consultation, close coordination, and mutual support at international and regional forums; effectively implement the Vietnam-Laos Joint Statements and agreements between the two Parties, the two States, and cooperation programs between ministries, branches, and localities; enhance connectivity and complementarity between the two economies; take measures to remove difficulties and obstacles, and improve the quality and effectiveness of investment cooperation. At the same time, enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between agencies of the Party, the State, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, people's organizations, and localities; expand direct cooperation and mutual support in socio-economic development, and maintain security and stability in border areas.
The two sides affirmed the need to promote the effectiveness of existing mechanisms, continue to innovate and create to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in all fields, and at the same time build new suitable mechanisms to further strengthen the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, for the practical interests of the people of each country, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
