TPO – On the morning of 16/9, typhoon Bebinca made landfall in Shanghai, China with winds reaching 151 km/h near the eye of the storm. Due to the direct impact of the storm, Shanghai initially recorded some infrastructure damage.
At 7:30 a.m. 16/9, Typhoon Bebinca made landfall in Shanghai with maximum winds near the center of the storm at 14 level (42 m/s), becoming the strongest typhoon to make landfall in the million-population 25 city since 1949.
In response to the storm, Shanghai authorities ordered the closure of all expressways from early morning on 16/9, and canceled all flights to and from the city. Resorts and amusement parks such as Disneyland have also been closed since 15/9.

“Bebinca ravaged the Zhoushan Islands before making landfall in Shanghai. The storm did not weaken and made landfall at its peak intensity,” said Tang Jie, deputy director of the Shanghai Disaster Research Institute under the China Meteorological Administration.
According to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, due to being directly affected by the storm, on the 16th, Shanghai city had showers and thunderstorms, with very heavy rainfall.
