Four days after the incident, the French Northside account of singer Phao was back on the platform. All content on the channel was also fully restored, without losing views. The previous cryptocurrency-related videos completely disappeared. However, the damage left behind was not small.

In addition to losing all her views during the days when her channel was locked, her account's subscriptions also dropped sharply. Before the incident, Phao had about 657,000 followers. Currently, the platform only shows about 632,000. Thus, the female rapper lost about 25,000 subscriptions.

According to SocialBlade data, the Northside Cannon channel had around 3,000-5,000 monthly subscribers before the song "Career Obstacles". So the number of followers lost is equivalent to 5-8 months.

On April 18, the Northside Cannon channel suddenly changed its logo to that of the investment company Bitcoin Strategy. At the same time, all videos on the account were hidden from the homepage on the morning of April 18. Instead, cryptocurrency-related content was redirected and displayed on the channel as a playlist. At 8:30 a.m. that same day, this user was still broadcasting the speech of “whale” Michael Saylor at an event.

Attached to the video is a QR code that links to a fraudulent website. The scammer lures viewers into sending them digital money in exchange for double the profit. The livestream show on rapper Phao's channel is attracting more than 49,000 viewers. However, the broadcaster has disabled the comment feature so that viewers cannot react and warn about unusual content.

In fact, this is a common form of fraud on the Internet. When users send crypto assets, hackers will take them instead of returning them as promised.

Before Phao, a series of celebrities and content creators in Vietnam also had their YouTube channels hijacked to broadcast fraudulent content. After a few hours of broadcasting, the account will be locked by YouTube for violating policies.

The most recent case of a YouTube channel being hacked is streamer Do Mixi. His account with 8 million subscribers was renamed and broadcast fraudulent content. His case was more complicated as the channel was renamed 3 times, after recovering.
