From his love for trees, Mr. Pham Van Sy (Dong Bon hamlet, Tan Thanh commune, Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province) invested in an experiential eco-tourism model on his family's available land. Up to now, this model has initially welcomed visitors.
Passionate about trees and decided to build an eco-zone
We arrived at Thao Nguyen flower valley (Dong Bon hamlet, Tan Thanh commune, Phu Binh district) on an early winter afternoon when the dry sunlight was shining down. The road leading to the flower valley is winding and curving, with cool green acacia forests on both sides. We had to ask a few people for directions before we could find our way here.

As soon as we got off the car, Mr. Sy (the owner of the flower valley) with a small figure warmly shook our hands and invited us inside to have a drink. While chatting, Mr. Sy told us: His family has four brothers. When he was only two years old, he followed his parents from Nga My (Phu Binh) to reclaim land here and has settled here ever since.
Mr. Sy said that at that time, there was still a lot of wasteland around here, so whoever received it had to work on it. Therefore, taking advantage of the large area of garden and hill land, from a young age, Mr. Sy and his parents planted forests, which sparked his love for trees. Later, when he grew up and got married, his parents divided a little land for each of his siblings to create a livelihood.

Having done many different jobs from working as an excavator to trading, but due to his constant passion for trees, Mr. Sy has developed a forest planting model on an area of about 3 hectares. Along with that, he combines planting more trees and flowers to create a green space and landscape.

On that basis, in the past 5 years, realizing the great demand for sightseeing and meetings of many people, Mr. Sy has built the idea of developing an experiential eco-tourism model with the desire to serve local people with a place for entertainment.

According to Mr. Sy, investing in this model requires a huge amount of funding, so he invests according to the principle of doing as much as he can. In addition to his family's available capital, Mr. Sy also borrowed an additional 1 billion VND from the bank in the form of developing the family economy.
Currently, with an area of about 5 hectares of garden hills, Mr. Sy has about 3 hectares of forest land, mainly planted with acacia. With that area, every 5 years, he will earn an income of more than 200 million VND. The remaining 2 hectares are used for planting trees, flowers, and a resort and restaurant serving tourists who come to visit and experience here. In addition, he also raises wild chickens on the hills, goats and horses in the forest, both for business and for sightseeing. Recently, Mr. Sy also experimented with raising more than a dozen pairs of civets to increase his income.

Taking us on a tour around the eco-zone, Mr. Sy pointed to each area and introduced his long-term plans for what he would do here and how he would renovate there to create a beautiful natural landscape. Under the soft yellow sunlight of the winter afternoon, Mr. Sy's garden with many colorful flowers and rows of cool green trees became even brighter.

Mr. Sy's Thao Nguyen flower valley eco-tourism area has just been in operation and welcoming guests for about a year now, with an entrance fee of 50,000 VND/person. Coming to the eco-tourism area, visitors will experience services such as check-in, free karaoke, and a free swimming pool. Overnight accommodation services range from 200,000 - 300,000 VND/room depending on the length of stay.

To serve the ecological area, Mr. Sy is employing 4 workers to regularly clean and take care of flowers and trees with a daily wage of 250,000 - 300,000 VND/person/day.
In addition to creating a landscape by planting trees and flowers, Mr. Sy also raises wild chickens to serve both visitors' experience and their food needs. Photo: Kieu Hai
Many plans for a green living space
The desire to create a green living space for himself and his family has nurtured his passion and motivated Mr. Sy to develop ideas and take action to create a space for everyone to visit, experience and have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the wild natural landscape with fresh, cool air in the mountains and forests.

Mr. Sy said that although he is very passionate about eco-tourism and experience, because he mainly explores and does it himself, he often does not have a specific direction and is still vague. Sitting and chatting with him, we heard him sketch out many plans to carry out in the near future with passion and determination.

Mr. Sy's orientation in the coming time is to develop and expand this ecological model, investing in more construction items to attract tourists to visit and experience. However, the biggest difficulty of his family is the limited investment capital, so Mr. Sy hopes to access capital for development. At the same time, he hopes to receive support from the industry and local authorities in promoting the image of the ecological area so that more people will know about it.
