Require proper implementation of iron ore transportation plan to ensure traffic safety

After Viet Trung Minerals and Metallurgy Company Limited made a plan to transport 194,678 tons of Limonite ore from Quy Xa iron mine to Lao Cai Iron and Steel Factory in Tang Loong Industrial Park, Bao Thang district, the Department of Construction requested this unit to strictly comply with regulations on ensuring traffic order and safety.

All vehicles after receiving iron ore for transport to Lao Cai Iron and Steel Factory must be sealed with lead before circulating on the road.

According to information from Viet Trung Minerals and Metallurgy Company Limited, immediately after the Provincial People's Committee issued Document No. 1889/UBND-KT, dated April 9, 2025 on the use and consumption of 194,678 tons of iron ore remaining at Quy Xa iron mine (Van Ban), the unit made a plan to transport it to Lao Cai Iron and Steel Factory in Tang Loong Industrial Park, Bao Thang district.

Accordingly, Viet Trung Minerals and Metallurgy Company Limited has established the following transportation plan: Using 22 to 25 dump trucks over 27 tons suitable for the road infrastructure on National Highway 279 and Provincial Road 151; transportation time from April to the end of August 2025 (transportation vehicle frames receive, transport and return goods from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily). Outside of the above time frame, transport vehicles must gather at the yard managed by Viet Trung Minerals and Metallurgy Company Limited.

Regarding the transportation route: The vehicles will pick up goods from the K21 warehouse, Quy Xa iron mine, then enter National Highway 279 to Khe Lech intersection - go to Provincial Road 151, through Son Thuy commune, Vo Lao commune (Van Ban district) and Phu Nhuan commune (Bao Thang district) and then go to the staging area of ​​Lao Cai Iron and Steel Factory in Tang Loong Industrial Park. The vehicles transporting ore before leaving the K21 warehouse, Quy Xa iron mine must be sealed, lead-sealed and have their route monitored by GPS positioning system.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Tran Xuan Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said: The Department of Construction has sent a document to Viet Trung Minerals and Metallurgy Company Limited to request this unit to strictly implement legal regulations in organizing the transportation of iron ore from Quy Xa mine to Lao Cai Iron and Steel Factory.

Specifically, Viet Trung Minerals and Metallurgy Company Limited is required to commit not to use vehicles with incorrect dimensions to transport iron ore; not to carry goods exceeding the permitted weight according to the certificate of technical safety and environmental protection of road motor vehicles issued by the competent authority. Units and individuals participating in the transportation of iron ore must strictly comply with the provisions of law on ensuring traffic safety, order, traffic safety and environmental sanitation.

In particular, the unit requests that during the 2025 High School Graduation Exam (from June 25, 2025 to June 28, 2025), no ore transportation will be carried out to create the most favorable conditions for students to travel safely when taking the exam.
