On May 23, Yen Khanh District People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2022 Summer-Autumn crop production and deploy the 2023 Summer-Autumn crop production plan.
In the 2022 Summer-Autumn Crop, thanks to favorable weather conditions, together with the close leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities from the district to the grassroots level in implementing plans, organizing production, and protecting crops, production has achieved comprehensive success in terms of productivity, output, and value. The total cultivated area of the district reached 8,310 hectares; the production value reached 428,632 million VND; the production value per 1 hectare of cultivated land reached 51.58 million VND.
The highlight of the last Summer-Autumn crop was that the district encouraged people to reduce the area of sown rice and increase the area of transplanted rice. Specifically, out of the total area of 7,684 hectares of rice, 3,920 hectares of rice were transplanted (accounting for 51%); of which, the area of transplanted rice by machine was 700 hectares (accounting for 10%). In addition, mechanization was enhanced, many new scientific and technical advances, and new varieties were also applied. This has contributed to reducing production costs and increasing the quality and value of agricultural products.
The 2023 Summer-Autumn Crop is expected to face many difficulties due to unusual weather conditions, complex pests, large areas of weedy rice remaining over the seasons, and labor shortages.
To ensure safe and successful production, Yen Khanh district has developed specific solutions and implementation plans. In particular, focusing on harvesting spring rice quickly, preparing the land early, and regulating water properly. Arranging early tea areas to compact the area to grow early winter crops and arranging to plant long-term varieties in low-lying fields to prevent the possibility of flooding when it rains.
In addition, continue to propagate and mobilize people to switch from sowing to transplanting, expanding the area of high-quality rice cultivated in an organic direction. Strengthen and expand forms of production and product consumption linkages. Focus on converting low-efficiency rice production areas to other crops with high economic value or rice cultivation combined with aquaculture.
The whole Yen Khanh district strives to plant 8,310 hectares of various crops. Of which, rice is 7,676 hectares, the rest are vegetables such as: soybeans, peanuts, corn, potatoes, vegetables of all kinds...
The district also aims to increase the rate of manual and mechanical planting to 70%; the rate of high-quality rice varieties to 97%. The time for sowing and planting rice is concentrated in the second half of June and the beginning of July.
