On September 23, Van Chan district ( Yen Bai ) held a festival to honor the ancestral tea tree. This is a traditional festival held annually according to the rituals of the Mong people in Suoi Giang to honor the Shan Tuyet tea region.

The festival begins with a procession. The offerings are the freshest local agricultural products grown and raised by the locals, such as sticky rice, wine, chicken, flowers, fruits, tea, yellow and red paper, incense, etc.
At the foot of the Ancestral Tea Tree in Pang Cang village, the master of ceremonies is a virtuous and prestigious village elder who understands the customs and practices of the Mong people. On behalf of the villagers, he offers offerings, expresses his wishes, and thanks heaven and earth for blessing the villagers.
Right after the ceremony, the festival took place with activities such as: Demonstration of the tea picking and processing process of Shan Tuyet tea by Mong boys and girls...
The festival honoring the ancestral tea tree of the people of Suoi Giang commune is held annually to show respect and gratitude to heaven, earth, and gods for blessing the people with a year of favorable weather and bountiful tea harvests.
At the same time, the festival demonstrates the beauty of spiritual culture, containing profound human values, creating the unique value of Suoi Giang to attract tourists to learn, explore and enjoy tea.
Here, visitors from all over can immerse themselves in the traditional cultural beauty of the Mong people in Suoi Giang such as: the ceremony to honor the ancestral tea tree, the process of picking tea, processing and enjoying Shan Tuyet tea along with other unique cultural and sports activities.
The festival contributes to educating the young generation to remember their roots, raising awareness in preserving, maintaining and promoting the nation's fine cultural traditions; protecting and developing the precious Suoi Giang tea variety.
Currently, Suoi Giang commune has over 500 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea; including a population of 400 Shan tea trees over 100 years old that have been recognized as Vietnamese heritage trees.
The annual output of fresh tea buds reaches 600 tons. Tea is not only a source of pride but also the main source of income for the people here.
