Like many other areas, storm No. 3 and its circulation have attacked, swept away, causing serious impacts and damage to the telecommunications network infrastructure in Yen Bai province. Some localities were affected and suffered major damages such as: Yen Bai city, districts: Tran Yen, Van Yen, Luc Yen, ... According to statistics, the whole Yen Bai province had 653 mobile transceiver stations (BTS) that were damaged or malfunctioned due to the storm (VNPT 252 stations, Viettel 312 stations, Mobifone 89 stations). BTS station incidents have disrupted communication activities, making it impossible for organizations and individuals to contact by phone in areas within the coverage area.
Before and during the storm, under the direction of the Department of Information and Communications of Yen Bai province, telecommunications enterprises in the province mobilized maximum human and material resources to deploy urgent solutions to protect, respond to and handle incidents in the telecommunications network to ensure communication to serve the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels and to serve the information access needs of people in the province.
It can be said that during the storm and flood, the staff, employees and workers of telecommunications enterprises in Yen Bai province were determined, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, crossing mountains, wading streams, transporting equipment, materials and fuel to fix the network problems as soon as possible to serve the information needs of the people.

After many days of struggling with storms and floods, up to now, the Information and Communications sector of Yen Bai province has basically fixed the telecommunications network problem, with 589/653 (equivalent to 90%) BTS stations restored and operating normally (VNPT 237 stations; Viettel 282 stations; Mobifone 70 stations); the whole province has only 64/653 stations (accounting for 10%) that have not been completed and are continuing to be fixed; currently there are only a few areas without signal, these are all areas far from the center, with complex terrain, landslides, and flooding that has not been completely drained, making it difficult to transport equipment and vehicles to access and handle the situation. During the storm and flood, so that people can communicate via the telecommunications network, the Department of Information and Communications of Yen Bai has directed telecommunications enterprises to share the 2G/3G network (Roaming 2G/3G) from September 10, 2024, and has posted detailed instructions on setting up Roaming on the Yen Bai Digital Citizen platform, Yen Bai - S for people to access and perform operations.
