In Yen Bai province, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi and the delegation visited and encouraged students, teachers and forces supporting the recovery of the consequences of storm No. 3 at Ly Thuong Kiet High School, Hoa Lan Kindergarten, and Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School. These are 3 schools in Yen Bai city that were heavily affected by the recent storm and flood.

At all three schools, the work of overcoming the consequences is being actively carried out with the participation of police, military, teachers, parents, and students. In particular, the support of people from other localities with Yen Bai is also acknowledged.
At Hoa Lan Kindergarten, a group of Vinh Phuc residents brought along equipment to help the school clean up after the flood. By the afternoon of September 14, Hoa Lan Kindergarten had basically completed the cleanup to prepare to welcome preschool children back to school on September 16.
The days of flooding in Yen Bai city also showed the proactive response efforts of many schools. At Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School, on the night the flood began, teachers were mobilized to move desks, chairs, equipment, and records to the upper floors. Thanks to this initiative, although the flood almost covered the entire first floor, the damage was significantly reduced.

Currently, the cleanup and recovery work after the storm has been and is being carried out quickly and actively by the mobile police force, Yen Bai Provincial Police, and teachers and parents of Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School. The school is also ready to welcome students back to school from the beginning of next week.
With such a large amount of mud and soil, at Ly Thuong Kiet High School, there is still a lot of work to be done to clean up and fix the problem, but the school is also receiving support and assistance from authorities, the participation of teachers, students, and parents to return to normal teaching and learning activities as soon as possible.
On September 18, all Yen Bai students returned to school.
Storm No. 3 caused heavy rain, flooding, landslides, greatly affecting educational facilities, families of officials, teachers and students in Yen Bai province. According to information from the Yen Bai Department of Education and Training, 2 teachers and 8 students in Yen Bai province died, 2 students were injured due to the storm.

There are 28 flooded educational facilities, up to now the schools have cleaned up and repaired; 37 educational facilities suffered landslides. In addition, there are some schools and school sites that suffered landslides with small volume, the schools have proactively mobilized staff, teachers, employees and students to repair. The initial estimated damage to facilities, teaching and learning equipment, and books is about 45 billion VND.
The number of students who lost/damaged textbooks and school supplies is estimated at 22,787, of which 19,193 were from the Department of Education and Training and 3,594 were from high schools. The estimated cost is about 11.5 billion VND.
Discussing the work of overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3, Vice Chairwoman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh said: Immediately after the water receded, Yen Bai province mobilized the maximum force in the province and support forces with the number of about 104,000 people to overcome the storm and flood. Localities with less impact will be mobilized to support the recovery in heavily affected areas.

Up to this point, most of the flooded schools have mobilized and coordinated with internal and external forces to clean up, and are basically clean. However, cleaning and sanitation in some schools in Yen Bai city have encountered many difficulties due to power outages, lack of water sources, and lack of specialized equipment. Many schools have suffered from landslides, subsidence of structures, and landslides of fences that have not been resolved. Currently, the schools have reported to the authorities and management levels for assessment and solution.
As of the morning of September 13, the whole Yen Bai province had 152/442 schools from kindergarten to high school organizing to welcome students to school and organize educational activities, reaching 35%. Vice Chairwoman of Yen Bai province Vu Thi Hien Hanh informed: Try to send students to school on September 16 to ensure the school year time. Schools with very heavy workloads are expected to let students go to school from September 18.

Sharing the heavy losses and damages of Yen Bai province and the Yen Bai Education sector, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi also sent her deepest condolences to the families of those who died due to floods, especially the families of students and teachers.

The Deputy Minister shared that the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training determined that this is the time to come to localities, stand side by side with the Departments of Education and Training to encourage and share, and also to send thanks to local authorities for their attention and support for the education sector and schools.
Appreciating the proactive, scientific and methodical actions of Yen Bai province and schools in proactively responding to minimize damage and mobilizing many forces to participate in cleaning up and overcoming the consequences after the storm, the Deputy Minister hoped that schools would stabilize as soon as possible to bring students back to normal schooling in safe conditions.
The Deputy Minister also reminded the local education sector to focus on stabilizing the spirit and ideology of students, teachers, and parents; and to summarize the damage fully and accurately to have proposed solutions.
In Yen Bai, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi visited the husband of the kindergarten teacher who died in the flood and is being treated at Yen Bai General Hospital.
Regarding the issue of ensuring the school year schedule, the Deputy Minister assigned units under the Ministry of Education and Training to grasp the actual situation of localities to provide guidance, support, and ensure the program, plan, and quality of education.
In the context of complex natural disasters, according to the Deputy Minister, it is necessary to further strengthen disaster prevention education and integrate it into subjects so that students and teachers can improve their response capacity.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union presented 1 billion VND in support to the education sector of Yen Bai province. The families of the deceased teachers were supported with 30 million VND each, the deceased students with 10 million VND each, the injured students with 2 million VND, and the injured teachers with 5 million VND.
Vietnam Education Publishing House and Hong Ha Stationery Joint Stock Company have also provided support to the Yen Bai Education sector.
