At home, Yamal scored in the 103rd minute. The Barcelona forward received the ball from Dean Huijsen, then unleashed a left-footed shot that nestled into the top corner of the net, giving goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen no chance to save it.
This goal helped Yamal make history as the youngest player to score in the Nations League (17 years and 253 days old).
Also in the recent match, Yamal missed Spain's penalty. However, coach Luis de la Fuente's team still advanced as the Dutch players missed two penalties (Noa Lang, Donyell Malen). Ultimately, Spain won 5-4 on penalties.
In the Nations League, Yamal has only scored 1 goal in 2 appearances. If we consider both club and national team levels, the Barcelona forward has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in his last 4 matches.
On March 19th, Yamal surprised everyone by announcing he would fast during Ramadan. The Euro champion's decision stemmed from his close relationship with his grandmother Fatima, who was on pilgrimage to Mecca. "I believe I am healthy enough to fast," Yamal shared.
To support Yamal, the nutrition teams of Barcelona and the Spanish national team will create a special diet during Ramadan. The young Spanish star will fast from sunrise to sunset.
After the match against the Netherlands, Yamal will rejoin Barcelona to prepare for the clash against Osasuna on March 28th in La Liga.
