According to the Vietnam - Japan international cooperation program, on June 8, at the Geriatric - Rehabilitation Hospital, the Quang Ninh Department of Health received an occupational therapy specialist to work and provide professional support.
This is a volunteer sent by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Accordingly, the volunteer is Ms. Kamikawa Mariko, an occupational therapist, who will work directly at the Quang Ninh Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Hospital for 2 years. Ms. Kamikawa Mariko will join her Vietnamese colleagues in treating patients, while providing professional support, introducing and transferring techniques being implemented in Japan to doctors, nurses and technicians at the Geriatrics and Rehabilitation Hospital and other medical facilities in the province.
Physical therapy and rehabilitation is a relatively new field in Vietnam as well as Quang Ninh. The professional support from Japanese experts, a long-developed medical field in this field, is expected to contribute to further improving the qualifications and skills of medical staff and technicians in the province, meeting the increasing needs of patients.
Expressing gratitude to Ms. Kamikawa Mariko for coming to work in Quang Ninh, as well as JICA for sending volunteers to support in the health sector, the leaders of the Quang Ninh Department of Health pledged to create the most favorable conditions for Ms. Kamikawa in her life and work in the next 2 years. At the same time, the Quang Ninh Department of Health also hopes to continue to receive further support from JICA in the fields of geriatrics, rehabilitation and other specialties, thereby continuously improving the quality of care and protecting the health of the people in the area.
