Memories of the past

Over the past 50 years, veterans and many generations of soldiers and people of Quang Dien today will never forget their comrades, teammates, and compatriots who fell for the independence and freedom of the nation, for the happiness of the people.

Mr. Le Quang Trung, residing in Dong Ho village, Quang Thai commune, recalls: The war has been over for 50 years, but those who participated in or witnessed those difficult and arduous years still cannot forget the fierceness of the resistance war against the US to save the country of the army and people of Quang Thai in particular and Quang Dien in general.

“We always determined that each person had a job and had to be highly determined to hope to win. My mission at that time was to work in the police force, protect the Party, and mobilize the masses to fight. Quang Thai and Quang Dien were white belt areas plowed by the enemy. To operate, we had to secretly rely on the base. Having the people and the base meant having everything,” said Mr. Le Quang Trung.

Many revolutionary veterans in Quang Dien district affirmed that during the resistance war against the US to save the country, if we could control Quang Thai, it would mean we would have controlled a delta at night.

“We helped the liberation army grasp the enemy situation, provide food and shelter for cadres. On March 23, 1975, Quang Thai commune was completely liberated,” said Mr. Van Duc Thong, residing in Trung Kieu village, former Party Secretary of Quang Thai commune, who was directly responsible for communication, reporting and supplying food at the grassroots level during the days when Quang Thai was preparing for liberation.

The history of the Party Committees of the communes of Quang Thai, Quang Loi, Quang Vinh, Quang Phu... in particular and Quang Dien district in general has clearly recorded the developments of the resistance war against the US to save the country of the army and people of Quang Dien and other localities. For Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, he still cannot forget the days when he was appointed by the Provincial Party Committee as Deputy Commander of the Northern Front to liberate Hue. "Despite difficulties and hardships, the Party Committee and the people of Quang Dien were always loyal to the Party, following Uncle Ho's teachings, determined to defeat the US invaders to the end. The loyalty, courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the army and people of Quang Dien brought about victory. On March 25, 1975, Quang Dien district was completely liberated," Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh recalled.

New mission, new belief

Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Dien District Le Ngoc Bao emphasized: 50 years since the day the homeland was liberated, the socio-economic situation of Quang Dien District has been constantly developing; the appearance of the new countryside has been changing every day. Looking back at the general economic picture of Quang Dien District after 50 years, although there are still difficulties, thanks to knowing how to promote the revolutionary tradition, solidarity, joint efforts, and consensus to overcome difficulties and rise up of many generations, Quang Dien has been and is increasingly developing.

For the revolutionary veterans and leaders of all periods in Quang Dien, everyone realizes that it is the unity and consensus from top to bottom that is the consistent lesson, creating the strength for Quang Dien to overcome everything. Although investment resources are still limited, and it is a low-lying area, often adversely affected by the weather, the socio-economic situation of Quang Dien is gradually making important breakthroughs.

The Party, government, and political system from the district to the grassroots level throughout the district have been and are continuing to firmly pursue the goal of restructuring the agricultural sector in conjunction with building model new rural areas and advanced new rural communes. In addition to improving people's living standards, urban planning, renovation, and development are also issues that Quang Dien pays special attention to in order to create momentum for the district's next development steps.

After a period of efforts to implement the new rural program, Quang Dien is considered a leading locality, developing widely, creating unity and consensus among the people. Walking on the clean asphalt and concrete roads with many new constructions springing up on both sides, we can see more clearly the growth of Quang Dien.

The Party Committee and local government of Quang Dien district have been implementing a revolution in reorganizing the organization, apparatus, and administrative units according to new requirements, with the highest determination and most drastic actions, in the spirit of innovation for development.

“Looking back on the past, the Quang Dien District Party Committee is proud of the achievements it has made in leading the People to successfully carry out the revolutionary tasks. That is also a solid foundation for the Party Committee and the People of the entire district to continue to rise up and excellently complete new tasks in the next period, worthy of the homeland's tradition and the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces,” affirmed Quang Dien District Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thanh Minh.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Quang Dien district (March 25, 1975 - March 25, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Hue city (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025), Quang Dien district organized a series of activities: Traditional fire lighting program; 50th anniversary art performance; gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, martyrs' families, and policy families; exhibition and display of the district's socio-economic development achievements after 50 years of liberation; launching a response to the 2025 sea tourism season...
