Promote, advertise and orient the development of typical tourism products of Quan Son district

On the afternoon of November 8, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa coordinated with the People's Committee of Quan Son district to organize a conference to promote, advertise and orient the development of typical tourism products of Quan Son district.

Attending the conference were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa, leaders of Quan Son district, many domestic tourism experts and representatives of travel and tourism businesses inside and outside the province.

Quan Son is a mountainous district with 84km of border adjacent to Sam To and Vieng Xay districts, Hua Phan province (Laos), with Na Meo international border gate. In 2019, the Quan Son - Vieng Xay international tourist route was officially announced, attracting hundreds of international visitors each year.

The district has four ethnic groups: Thai, Muong, Kinh, Mong living together. The ethnic groups here still preserve and promote many traditional cultural values. In particular, the district also has the Muong Xia Festival, which is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Coming to Quan Son, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy culinary specialties and famous OCOP products such as: Nang Non dried bamboo shoots, Muong Xia Cay Noi sticky rice, Muong Ha dried beef, Tinh stream duck, Nang Huong super yeast wine, Muong Thanh sturgeon, Muong Ha Chang stream duck...

With many advantages in natural resources, culture, and traditional customs, Quan Son district has many favorable conditions to develop types of tourism such as eco-tourism, community tourism, and sightseeing and experience tourism associated with Na Meo international border gate...

Quan Son district leaders introduce tourism potential.

With these advantages, over the past years, the District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Quan Son district have implemented many programs and plans to develop tourism. In particular, the Resolution of the 6th Congress of the Quan Son District Party Committee, term 2020-2025, identified tourism development as a key task, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Quan Son district. The district has developed a Project for Community Tourism Development in Quan Son district to 2025, with a vision to 2030 and a Project for Organic Agriculture Development in Combination with Ecotourism in Quan Son district to 2025, with a vision to 2030.

In the period of 2016 - 2024, Quan Son district received more than 40 billion VND from the State to carry out the tasks of building the Community Tourism Development Project; building infrastructure to serve the Quan Son - Vieng Xay tour.

Ms. Mai Thi Hong Hai, Director of the Center for Regional Development Research - Union of Science and Technology Associations of Thanh Hoa province spoke at the conference.

Despite its great potential and advantages, Quan Son district's tourism development still has many limitations. From 2021 to the end of October 2024, the district will welcome about 70,000 visitors; the rate of staying guests will reach 1.66% compared to mountainous districts and 0.26% compared to the number of tourists in the whole province.

At the conference, delegates focused on assessing the potentials and strengths in tourism development of Quan Son district. At the same time, they pointed out the shortcomings and limitations and suggested some solutions for the district to study and implement in the coming time.

Accordingly, Quan Son district needs to mobilize all resources to exploit potentials and strengths, prioritize investment in developing typical tourism products such as community tourism, organic agriculture development combined with eco-tourism. Tourism development needs to be associated with preserving and promoting cultural values, creating highlights, positioning brands, identities, attracting the attention of investors and tourists to Quan Son. Organize implementation, review, adjust, supplement, and develop plans for tourist areas and spots as a basis for attracting investment in tourism development; focus on improving the landscape at accommodation establishments.

Strengthen the organization of information, propaganda, introduction and promotion activities about potentials and strengths; build a system of multilingual signs, introduction boards and tourist explanations in tourist areas and destinations.

Within the framework of the conference to promote, advertise and orient the development of typical tourism products of Quan Son district, local delegates visited the temple of General Tu Ma Hai Dao, surveyed Bo Cung cave in Son Thuy commune and Ngam village, Son Dien commune.
