The conference contributed to implementing and concretizing Resolution 04 of the Provincial Party Committee on Building Thua Thien Hue to be worthy of being one of the major and unique centers of the country and Southeast Asia in terms of culture and tourism in the period of 2021 - 2025 and vision to 2030.
Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that the province's tourism in recent years has grown in all indicators: number of visitors; tourism revenue... After being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic (from 2020 - 2022), the province's tourism industry has made important recovery steps, the number of tourists to Thua Thien Hue has gradually increased over the years.
In 2022, the total number of tourists will reach 2.05 million, tourism revenue will reach more than 4,500 billion VND; by 2023, the total number of tourists will reach 3.2 million (including 1.2 million international visitors and 2 million domestic visitors), tourism revenue will reach 7,000 billion VND.

In the first 8 months of 2024, the number of visitors to Hue is estimated at nearly 2.74 million; the number of overnight visitors is about 1.4 million, and tourism revenue is estimated at nearly 6,000 billion VND. Currently, the top 10 international markets leading tourists to Thua Thien Hue are Taiwan (China), Thailand, the US, Malaysia, France, the UK, Australia, Germany, Spain, and South Korea.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh also admitted that Thua Thien Hue has many diverse natural landscape resources and a rich cultural institution system, but there are no cultural institutions of equal stature and class because they have not attracted large investors. In addition, the infrastructure for eco-tourism and resort tourism is quite good, but in general, the province's tourism infrastructure is still weak...

According to Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Ha Van Sieu, this conference is meaningful as Thua Thien Hue province is preparing to host the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025. It demonstrates the proactive participation of the tourism business community in joining hands with state management agencies in promoting destinations and linking to develop local tourism.
With its inherent tourism potential, Thua Thien Hue province needs to implement more solutions to affirm its tourism position. Accordingly, Thua Thien Hue Tourism Association and tourism businesses in the area need to focus on researching and developing unique tourism products, associated with the strengths of cultural identity, tangible and intangible heritage of the locality to create a premise for promoting and linking the development of tourism products and programs.
Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism needs to guide businesses to strengthen coordination in promoting destinations and building the tourism brand "Hue - Capital of culture and heritage". Research and develop new types of tourism products, such as rural agricultural tourism, sports tourism, conferences... Restore and develop specialties associated with local traditional occupations.
In addition, the locality also needs to strengthen the management of tourist destinations, perfect and effectively promote tourism development policies, carry out digital transformation, and apply smart applications in the tourism sector to effectively exploit tourism development resources. Develop diverse types of tourism in the direction of green growth such as eco-tourism, agricultural tourism, exploring and experiencing natural and cultural heritage values, resorts, health care, etc.

At the conference, tourism experts, tourism businesses, and travel agencies nationwide focused on discussing, frankly pointing out shortcomings and limitations and proposing many solutions related to the tourism environment, destinations, infrastructure, service products, etc., so that Hue tourism can promote its potential strengths in accordance with market demand as well as the general development orientation of the province.
Thua Thien Hue hosts the National Tourism Year 2025, this conference will open up opportunities for tourism businesses to proactively join hands with state management agencies in promoting destinations and linking to develop local tourism.
On the basis of promoting the great value of Hue Festival, Thua Thien Hue tourism industry needs to create different cultural and festival activities, organized at different times of the year, to contribute to making Thua Thien Hue a city of festivals.
