Located in the center of Ma Le commune (Dong Van district, Ha Giang province), the monument house to record the names of 33 martyrs who died in the battle to protect the northern border has been completed and inaugurated. The project is not only a testament to the heroic sacrifice of revolutionary soldiers, but also shows the deep affection and sincere gratitude of later generations to the generations of fathers and brothers who died for the independence of the nation.
At noon on February 17, 2024, the stone stele with the names of 33 Dong Van martyrs was opened in an emotional atmosphere of the martyrs' relatives, Ha Giang province border guards and guests attending the inauguration ceremony.
Attending the event were Colonel Pham Van Hieu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command; Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Head of Political Department of the Ha Giang Provincial Border Guard; journalist Tran Viet Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, and leaders of departments, branches and local authorities.
Journalist Tran Viet Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, said: "Since the beginning of 2021, after learning that there were 5 martyrs in Ma Le commune and 28 martyrs in Lung Cu Border Guard Station, but the Martyrs' Memorial House has not yet been built, the Editorial Board of Thanh Nien Newspaper has focused on promoting the work, aiming to build and complete the worshiping works for those who sacrificed as soon as possible.

With the attention and direction of the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and the coordination of units such as the Border Guard Command, Ha Giang Province, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command... and especially the companionship and enthusiastic support of businesses - readers of Thanh Nien Newspaper, the project has now been completed.
Journalist Tran Viet Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, and delegates offered flowers and incense to commemorate the martyrs.
"Previously, there were 5 martyr families in the locality who still did not have a place to burn incense. We agreed to try to build a project to bring the martyrs back to burn incense at their place of residence. Through mobilization and propaganda work, Thanh Nien Newspaper coordinated with us to clear the land. Through propaganda, the households supported and donated land. Finally, the project was completed thanks to the help of Thanh Nien Newspaper and sponsors. After taking over, the commune government will manage the project well," said Mr. Vang Mi Cau, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ma Le Commune (Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province).

Also accompanying, Mr. Le Manh Linh, representative of the sponsor, said: "Our contribution to the construction of the Monument to the Martyrs of Ma Le Commune and Lung Cu Border Post is just a small contribution and the most sincere heart, the most practical gratitude to the Heroes who fell to protect the Fatherland".
"Today, on behalf of 5 families of martyrs, we are very happy to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Monument to the Martyrs of Ma Le Commune and Lung Cu Border Post. From now on, we, the families of martyrs, will have a place to regularly come to burn incense and remember our loved ones on holidays, New Year's Day and July 27," said Mr. Hoang Van Thung, representative of the relatives of martyr Hoang A Pao.

The stone stele listing the names of 33 martyrs provides complete information about the martyrs such as full name, year of birth, rank, unit, enlistment, sacrifice, and hometown. The stele is made of Thanh Hoa green stone, made by artisans in Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. The stele house project started construction in September 2023, with a total area of 600 m2 with many different items. The total investment in the construction of this project is nearly 1 billion VND.
