Touching scene as villagers bid farewell to military forces searching for missing persons in Nu Village.

After 15 days of searching for victims missing in the flash flood on the morning of September 10th, officers and soldiers of the 316th Division (Military Region 2) and border guards left Lang Nu village. Tears flowed from the villagers during their farewell... The remaining missing victims will be handled by the local authorities.

Immediately after the devastating flash flood in Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune (Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province), the military was present from the very beginning, with approximately 600 officers and soldiers from Military Region 2; police, military personnel, and militia from Bao Yen district and Lao Cai province mobilized to search for dozens of missing people. Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Comrade Hoang Quoc Bao, Secretary of Bao Yen District, thanked the military forces for overcoming difficulties and supporting the locality in searching for missing victims in the past period. The officers and soldiers of the armed forces worked with the highest spirit and responsibility, further enhancing the image of the Ho Chi Minh Army in peacetime – an army that comes from the people and serves the people, which is why the soldiers were present in Lang Nu. To date, authorities have confirmed that 11 people are still missing. After the troops from Military Region 2 withdrew to their units, the search for the remaining missing victims will be continued for another 5 days by the military and militia forces of Bao Yen district. Photo: Pham Hung.
