The total import-export turnover of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts of our country last year exceeded 100 billion USD for the first time.
According to data from the General Department of Customs, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts is the third largest group of goods in terms of turnover (after computers, electronics and phones and components), with a turnover of over 52.19 billion USD, an increase of 21.02% compared to 2023.
Imports of this group of goods last year also increased sharply by 17.59%, reaching nearly 48.89 billion USD.
The group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts accounts for 12.87% of the total export turnover of all kinds of goods of the whole country; The machinery and equipment products exported the most to the US market reached over 22.05 billion USD, an increase of 21.16% compared to 2023 and accounted for 42.25% of the total export turnover of the group of goods.
Next is the Chinese market reaching nearly 3.37 billion USD, accounting for 6.45%, up 11.78% compared to 2023; South Korea reaching 3.26 billion USD (accounting for 6.25%, up 18.3%); exports to Japan reaching nearly 2.77 billion USD (accounting for 5.3%, up slightly 0.67%).
In general, exports of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts to most markets in 2024 will increase in turnover compared to 2023.
On the other hand, imports of machinery and equipment to Vietnam in 2024 will reach nearly 48.89 billion USD, an increase of 17.59% compared to 2023.
Machinery and equipment imported to Vietnam are mostly from China, accounting for 59.24% of the total import turnover of this group of goods nationwide, reaching over 28.96 billion USD, an increase of 28.66% compared to 2023; of which December 2024 alone reached over 2.85 billion USD, an increase of 4.88% compared to November 2024 and an increase of 27.63% compared to December 2023.
Following the main market of China is South Korea, accounting for 10.77%, reaching over 5.26 billion USD, down 3.15%; in December 2024 alone, imports from this market reached 398.27 million USD, down 3.34% compared to November 2024 and down 14.62% compared to December 2023.
Next is the Japanese market reaching over 4.01 billion USD, down slightly by 0.09%, accounting for 8.21%.
In the first month of this year, import and export of this group of goods reached 7.85 billion USD, of which, export was 3.86 billion USD, down 4%, import was 3.99 billion USD.
