Fruit exports to China increase sharply, Lang Son regulates to avoid congestion

According to the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone (Lang Son), Vietnamese fruit exports to the Chinese market through road and railway border gates are increasing rapidly.

Durian is a fruit that is strongly exported to the Chinese market.

On September 15, road border gates in Lang Son exported 521 trucks of goods, of which fruits accounted for the largest number with 421 trucks.

Previously, statistics from the week of September 8-14 showed that border gates in Lang Son completed import-export clearance procedures for 8,698 cargo vehicles, an increase of 18.4% compared to the week of September 1-7.

Total import and export turnover of all types of goods reached 1.13 billion USD. Of which, the number of vehicles carrying exported goods from Vietnam was 3,247, up 23% compared to the previous week; the number of vehicles carrying imported goods was 5,451, up 16% compared to the previous week.

Speaking to Thanh Nien , Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, said that the locality is maintaining 6 border gates operating to clear import and export goods with China.

It is noted that since the beginning of September, the import and export of goods between Vietnam and China has been very active, growing strongly compared to previous months, with about 1,000 trucks clearing customs every day.

Of which, nearly 500 trucks of goods were exported from Vietnam each day, mainly fruits from southern provinces to the Chinese market. The most exported fruits to China this time were dragon fruit, durian, banana...

Also according to Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, to create the best conditions for export enterprises, from the afternoon of September 8, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone has directed the Border Gate Management Center to coordinate with functional forces at the border gate to regulate vehicles waiting for export outside National Highway 1A to enter the duty-free zone to ensure security, order, and environmental sanitation, contributing to solving the prolonged traffic congestion.

The Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone also issued a notice requesting businesses and cargo owners to proactively monitor and grasp the customs clearance situation at Huu Nghi International Border Gate and other border gates in Lang Son province to develop business plans suitable to the actual situation; strictly implement the vehicle regulation of the authorities at the border gate area, to avoid congestion.

According to the General Department of Customs (Ministry of Finance), fruit and vegetable exports to China continue to record high growth rates. Specifically, in August, the export value to the Chinese market reached 266.3 million USD, an increase of 186.3% compared to August 2022.

Accumulated statistics for the first 8 months of this year, the export value to the Chinese market reached 2.3 billion USD, an increase of 134% over the same period in 2022.

In addition to the Chinese market, Vietnamese fruit exports to the markets of South Korea, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates in August recorded a more positive growth rate than in previous months.
