According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in March is estimated at 6.14 billion USD, bringing the total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in the first quarter to 15.72 billion USD, up 13.1% over the same period in 2024, VNA reported.
Of which, the export value of agricultural products reached 8.53 billion USD, up 12.2%; livestock products reached 131.3 million USD, up 18.5%; aquatic products reached 2.29 billion USD, up 18.1%; forestry products reached 4.21 billion USD...
In particular, the trade balance of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector in the first quarter is estimated to have a surplus of 4.4 billion USD, up 13.1%. By commodity group, forestry, fishery and agricultural products are the three commodity groups with a trade surplus in the first 3 months of the year.
The forestry group is estimated to have a surplus of 3.54 billion USD, up 9.1% over the same period in 2024; the aquatic products group has a surplus of 1.51 billion USD, up 14.1% and the agricultural products group has a surplus of 1.48 billion USD, up 16.9%.
In the first quarter of 2025, the five commodities with the highest trade surplus include wood and wood products, coffee, shrimp, vegetables and rice. In addition, Vietnam also has five commodities with export turnover of over 1 billion USD: wood and wood products, seafood, rice, vegetables and coffee.
Vietnam exported 2.2 million tons of rice in the last quarter, reaching 1.14 billion USD, up 0.6% in volume but down 19.7% in value compared to the same period in 2024. The average export price of rice is estimated at 522.1 USD/ton, down 20.1%.
Total coffee export volume and value in the first quarter reached 509,500 tons and brought in 2.88 billion USD, while fruit and vegetable export value reached 1.14 billion USD, down 11.3%.
In the past 3 months, Asia was the largest export market, accounting for 42% of the market share. The next two largest markets were the Americas and Europe, with market shares of 22.5% and 16.6%, respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the export value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products to Asia increased by 2%, the Americas increased by 15.7%, and Europe increased by 37.8%.
The US accounted for the highest market share at 20.2%, followed by China and Japan. Compared to the same period last year, the export value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products to the US increased by 13.5%, China increased by 3.6% and Japan increased by 26%.
