Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in 5 months reached 24.14 billion USD

In May 2024 alone, the country's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.06 billion USD (up 11.2% compared to May 2023). Of which, main agricultural products reached 2.73 billion USD (up 14.3%), forestry products 1.35 billion USD (up 17.9%), livestock 45.8 million USD (up 10.2%), and fishery alone 780 million USD (down 3.5%).

In the first 5 months of 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 24.14 billion USD, with most export groups increasing. Typically, the agricultural product group, in the past 5 months, brought 13.11 billion USD to the agricultural sector, up 27.7%; forestry products reached 6.58 billion USD, up 22.7%; aquatic products 3.5 billion USD, up 3.6%; livestock 199 million USD, up 5.6%.

Some items with strong export value growth include: Wood and wood products, reaching 6.14 billion USD (up 23.6%); coffee 2.9 billion USD (up 44.1% in value, down 3.9% in volume); rice 2.65 billion USD (up 38.2%, with 4.15 million tons, up 14.7%); cashew 1.55 billion USD (up 19.3%); vegetables and fruits 2.59 billion USD (up 28.1%); shrimp 1.3 billion USD (up 7.5%).

Notably, the average export price of many commodities increased. Specifically, the export value of rice reached 638 USD/ton, up 20.5%; coffee 3,482 USD/ton, up 49.9%; rubber 1,504 USD/ton, up 8.8%; pepper 4,308 USD/ton, up 39.3%...

In line with prices, Vietnam's agricultural export market also recorded growth in many markets. Of which, exports to the Asian market reached 11.31 billion USD (up 17.5%); America 5.4 billion USD (up 23.1%); Europe 3.2 billion USD (up 39.4%); Africa 459 million USD (up 26.1%); Oceania 341 million USD (up 24.8%).

The United States, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnamese agricultural products. Of which, the export value to the United States accounted for 20.6%, up 23.9%; China accounted for 19.2%, up 8.6%; Japan accounted for 6.7%, up 6.6%.

The increase in export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products also pushes up prices of domestic products.

In May 2024, domestic prices remained stable, without major fluctuations. Rice prices in the Mekong Delta increased slightly compared to the previous month; vegetables were consumed strongly, all increasing in price; pork prices recorded an increase of 3-10%, depending on the province compared to the previous month; pangasius prices were stable, fluctuating on average at 27,000-27,500 VND/kg, depending on the type; whiteleg shrimp prices increased by 3% compared to the previous month; fruit prices decreased due to abundant supply...

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends that although agricultural, forestry and fishery exports have increased sharply in many markets, businesses need to pay attention to quality and ensure import market standards.
