Fined 600 million VND for violating environmental protection

On March 19, the Office of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee announced that Mr. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had just signed a decision to administratively fine 600 million VND against Chanh Phong Livestock Production and Breeding Company Limited for two administrative violations of environmental protection at the Chanh Phong pig farm project (located in Phuoc Ninh commune, Thuan Nam district).

The reason for the penalty is that this pig farm did not properly or fully implement one of the contents of the decision on the results of the environmental impact assessment report approved by the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province.

Specifically, there are 6 treated water reservoirs that have not been lined with HDPE tarpaulin or waterproof concrete and have not built coagulation and sedimentation tanks in the correct locations according to the approved concentrated livestock wastewater treatment process; discharged wastewater exceeding technical standards on waste by 10 times or more...

The pig farming industry has often had problems with environmental pollution in recent times.

In addition, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province also suspended the source of livestock wastewater causing environmental pollution at 6 wastewater reservoirs after treatment of the facility for 3 months; forced the enterprise to implement measures to remedy the environmental pollution according to regulations (within 30 days from the date of receiving the penalty decision) and report the results of the completed violation correction.
