According to Major Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Head of Traffic Police Team No. 1, in recent times, the type of tourist passenger transport by UAZ vehicles in the city has flourished, but along with that, there have also been violations of traffic safety, commonly with illegal parking and carrying more people than allowed, leaving an unsightly image of tourism and also posing a potential risk of causing traffic jams and accidents.

According to Major Nguyen Manh Hung, there is a lot of information that the UAZs operating to transport tourists in Hanoi are decades old, old and without tarpaulins, and no longer qualified to be on the road. Regarding the above issue, Traffic Police Team No. 1 has recently increased patrolling and control, carefully checking each vehicle through the registration book as well as documents related to transportation and tourism business activities.

According to the actual recording of CAND Newspaper reporters together with the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 1 on Hang Tre Street (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), the UAZ with license plate number: 29H-034.XX was violating the parking violation in a place with a no parking sign.

Working with the authorities, driver PTH (born in 1974; residing in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) presented a complete registration book showing the year of manufacture 2007, the number of seats according to regulations... and had been registered to convert to a yellow license plate to be allowed to operate passenger transport business.

Driver PTH said that, with the transportation work directly related to tourists, he always remembers very carefully to ensure traffic safety for each trip. When receiving customers under contract, he has specific reminders for both tour guides and tourists to ensure safety, only transporting the correct number of people according to regulations for the vehicle. This is not only to ensure traffic safety but also to build the image of civilized, safe and friendly tourism in the capital.

Continuing to patrol many other streets in Hoan Kiem district, the authorities discovered another UAZ vehicle with license plate number 29K-003.XX carrying more people than the required number, so they issued a fine according to regulations.

At the same time, in Dong Da district, the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) through patrolling and controlling discovered and handled 3 cases of UAZ vehicles violating parking violations on Kham Thien street.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Vu Cong Huy, Chief Inspector of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said that in the past time, the management and inspection of tourist transport business activities have been regularly and continuously carried out by the Department and the functional units of the City, specifically the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police. Regarding the type of transporting tourists by Jeep and UAZ, these vehicles have basically been registered by units and businesses to convert to yellow license plates according to regulations. The team of drivers also has full driving licenses, practice certificates (equivalent to the certificate of training in driving business transport issued by the Department of Transport before)...

Interdisciplinary task force works with white-plate UAZ driver.

Regarding the existence of some UAZ vehicles with white license plates and transporting passengers, specifically the vehicle with white license plate: 51H-866.XX discovered by the interdisciplinary working group today (April 17), the Department will prepare a dossier, invite the vehicle owner and travel business to clarify the activities and will handle it according to regulations if violations are determined.

In addition, the Hanoi Department of Tourism also reminded and disciplined travel agencies and drivers to wear appropriate and respectful clothing while working to preserve the beautiful image of Hanoi in the eyes of tourists and international friends when visiting the capital.
