Flower growing takes place all year round, but Tet flower season always receives more investment and higher expectations from growers.
In the fields, flower growers carefully plow each row, taking care of each flower meticulously. Having been involved in the chrysanthemum growing profession for many years, Mr. Le Nguyen Huu Phuc shared that when growing flowers for Tet, he only hopes for favorable weather and stable flower prices to have a warm and prosperous Tet.
This year, his family planted 15,000 chrysanthemums of various colors to serve the Tet holiday. If the weather is favorable from now until Tet, the flowers will bloom on time and sell for a good price, like last year's Tet holiday, they sold for 9,000 - 10,000 VND/flower, double the normal price, after deducting all expenses, his family earned a profit of nearly 20 million VND. Currently, the price of flowers has also started to increase compared to last month, beautiful flowers are cut and sold for 4,000 VND/flower.
This year, the economic situation is difficult, consumers are tightening their spending, so flower growers are also cautiously listening to the market and intercropping to prevent difficulties in flower consumption. Ms. Lu Thi Do, a farmer specializing in growing gladiolus, said that her family has 1.5 sao of land. Since the end of the 9th lunar month, she has planted 7,000 gladiolus plants in colors such as red, tiger yellow, orange... on an area of 1 sao. If the weather is favorable, the flowers will bloom in time for Tet. With the remaining area, she grows chili to increase her income.

It is known that this year, flower growers in Xom Dao planted about 160,000 gladiolus bulbs and 300,000 chrysanthemum seedlings of various kinds, 1.5 times higher than last year's Tet flower crop. Learning from the experience of last year's Tet flower crop, due to unfavorable weather, cold weather right when the plants were bud-separating, causing the flowers to bloom late, not in time for Tet, this year, flower growers here planted at the right time, took good care of the soil, fertilized, pruned leaves, watered, and combined with some solutions such as: increasing electric lighting in the evening, covering with black nets to help the plants grow faster and bloom in time for Tet.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hau, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Buon Trap town, said that in recent years, growing flowers for Tet has been considered one of the economic development directions of farmers in Buon Trap town. Xom Dao flower village is a flower production area of more than 3 hectares in Krong Ana district, and has established a Flower Growing Cooperative with 18 households specializing in growing flowers to serve the market on full moon, holidays and Tet. With the long-term experience of the people in growing flowers and focusing on applying scientific and technical advances in planting and care, improving market access methods, the quality as well as the economic value of each flower crop has been increasingly improved, contributing to improving the lives of the people here.
