Eliminate 4 self-opened railway crossings in Ha Tinh province

(PLVN) - On April 21, information from the Traffic Police Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Police said that the unit has just coordinated with functional agencies, local Party committees and authorities to dismantle 4 spontaneously opened railway crossings in Huong Trach commune, Huong Khe district. These are spontaneously opened railway crossings with a very high potential risk of traffic accidents.

Thus, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the functional forces of Ha Tinh province have eliminated 12 spontaneous railway crossings.

According to the report of the authorities, the current railway line through Ha Tinh province is 70.28km long, passing through 20 communes and towns of 3 districts: Huong Khe, Duc Tho and Vu Quang with 28 legal level crossings and 66 unlicensed self-opened paths.

In Huong Khe district alone, the North-South railway line through the district is more than 45km long, passing through 10 communes and towns. In addition to legal level crossings, there are still 40 spontaneous level crossings and roads opened by local people for travel and transport of goods. Meanwhile, on average, there are dozens of passenger and freight trains from the North to the South every day. Many level crossings intersecting the railway are located in locations that are out of sight from both the road and the railway. If not carefully observed, it will pose a potential danger to people and vehicles participating in traffic.

Major Nguyen Xuan Hoang, Deputy Head of Traffic Police Team No. 3, Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police, said: In order to overcome the risk of railway traffic safety and gradually eliminate spontaneous residential paths on the railway, the unit regularly organizes inspection campaigns to clear violations of railway traffic safety in the area; requires households living along the railway to proactively remove and relocate all obstacles that obstruct visibility; conduct inspections, clear and impose administrative penalties on cases of intentional violations of the railway corridor. At the same time, coordinate with agencies, units and local authorities to eliminate spontaneous residential paths.

In addition, promote propaganda for people about potential risks of traffic safety; arrange traffic police to strengthen inspection, control, and focus on handling people and vehicles participating in traffic who violate signals and railway traffic rules at level crossings and road-railway intersections with high risk of traffic accidents on local railways.
