The vast forest is in bloom.
This season, wandering along the roads to the highlands of Quang Nam, you'll easily encounter countless flowers in full bloom, breathtakingly beautiful. The kapok flower is a symbol of Quang Nam and can be found in many villages. But perhaps the road along the Vu Gia River in Dai Loc district is where the kapok flowers evoke the most emotion.
From the towering "lonely kapok trees" at the foot of Ha Nha bridge (Dai Hong commune), near Ha Tan wharf (Dai Lanh commune)... upstream towards An Diem (Dai Hung commune), there is a whole strip of kapok trees blooming bright red, illuminating a corner of the sky.
Every March, many people make plans to return to Dai Loc to capture romantic and melancholic photos by the old riverbank, reflecting on a bygone era.
Perhaps this is also a type of trend that Mr. Le Tan Thanh Tung - Deputy General Director of VITRACO Joint Transport and Tourism Company Limited - believes will "take center stage" in 2025 - traveling to seek out things related to memories and nostalgia.
Recently, the DT609 road along the Vu Gia River has become busier with tourists, especially with the Dong Giang Heaven's Gate Eco-tourism Area located in the mountains. Besides the kapok flower season, further into the mountains, during this time of year, visitors can admire the scattered blooming of apollination flowers (Aposo flowers) on the hillsides.

In particular, the crape myrtle flowers have become an impressive highlight in the tourist area. Many visitors are captivated for a long time by the crape myrtle tree, bursting with an attractive orange hue beside the suspension bridge and the babbling stream.
The further you go into the mountains, the more enchanting the seasonal flowers of the forests become. Around the end of March and the beginning of April, those who love backpacking in the highlands of Quang Nam will find themselves in the cherry blossom season throughout Hien - Giang (now Dong Giang, Tay Giang, and Nam Giang).
The most remote flower season for tourists is found on the summit of A-ruung A-choóh (Tay Giang). At an altitude of over 2,000m above sea level, the rhododendron forest bursts into bloom, showcasing the proud, wild beauty of the Truong Son mountain range.
Mr. Arat Blui, Vice Chairman of the Tay Giang District People's Committee, said that Tay Giang possesses a unique system of resources for developing green tourism, among which the most magnificent is the rhododendron flower cluster - a "treasure" bestowed by nature upon Tay Giang in particular and Quang Nam in general. Through several surveys, the district has been creating stopping points and planning transportation routes to make it easier for tourists to access this area.
Waiting for integration with tourism.
With the growing popularity of nature-based tourism, seasonal flowers are a valuable asset for stimulating tourism and attracting visitors. In recent years, the midland and mountainous regions of northern Vietnam have been making excellent use of this resource.

"The buckwheat flower season in Ha Giang ," "the white plum blossom season in Moc Chau," "the rhododendron flower season on Fansipan peak"... have become famous brands, attracting tourists from near and far who brave the mountains to admire them.
In Quang Nam, the integration of characteristic native flowers with festivals to create unique attractions for tourists is gradually being implemented, but is still limited to the eastern region. Examples include the "Tam Ky - Sưa Flower Season" festival or the "Cu Lao Cham - Red Paulownia Flower Season" festival.
It's somewhat inappropriate to compare the scale of the flowering seasons in the mountainous regions of Quang Nam with those in the northern midland and mountainous areas. However, with proper planning and calculations, the locality can absolutely create flower-covered hills and flower-lined roads to become a unique attraction for tourists visiting the western region.
Recently, the Kon Tum provincial government set a target of planting an additional 1 million cherry blossom trees in Mang Den by the end of 2025, aiming to transform this tourist destination into a "cherry blossom land" of Vietnam.
Those passing through the Dong Ram community-based tourism village (Thanh My town, Nam Giang district) this spring will see scattered patches of blooming ixora flowers. If there were more ixora trees around the village, this village at the foot of the mountain would surely be breathtakingly beautiful.
And it's not just Dong Ram; many other villages in the highlands of Quang Nam, if adorned harmoniously with characteristic seasonal flowers, would become much more charming in the eyes of tourists. And now, the "lonely flower seasons" in the Truong Son mountain range still gently bloom, waiting for mountain-loving tourists to pass by and make their way there…
