The 2025 AFC U17 Championship is taking place in Saudi Arabia. Through the tournament, teams will compete for a place in the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year. In the first match of Group B, Japan U17 proved their strength by crushing UAE U17 with a score of 4-1.
This result helps U17 Japan temporarily lead Group B with 3 points. Meanwhile, U17 Australia and U17 Vietnam tied 1-1, so the two teams have 1 point each, ranking 2nd and 3rd respectively. At the bottom of the table is U17 UAE with 0 points and a goal difference of -3.
According to the rules, the top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals and win tickets to the 2025 U17 World Cup.
In this group, Japan is rated much higher than the other 3 opponents and is likely to win the top spot. The remaining spot will be a fierce competition between Australia, Vietnam and UAE.
In the next match series taking place on April 7, Vietnam will meet Japan at Okadh Sport Club and UAE will face Australia at King Fahd Sports City.
