Watch Border Guard special forces practice capturing cross-border drug criminals

Within the framework of the Vietnam - Cambodia Border Friendship Exchange Program 2019, recently, in Tinh Bien Town (Tinh Bien District, An Giang ), a joint exercise on combating cross-border drug crimes took place between the Border Guard, Police and Customs of An Giang Province (Vietnam) with the border protection forces of Takeo and Kandal provinces (Kingdom of Cambodia).

Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of the Border Guard, and General Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, co-chaired the exercise.

The forces participating in the exercise include the Border Guard, Police, Customs of An Giang province and the Police and Military forces of Takeo and Kandal provinces of Cambodia.

In the hypothetical scenario of the exercise, receiving information from Cambodia that there was an armed criminal group, about 10 people transporting drugs from the Golden Triangle into Vietnam, the Director of Takeo Provincial Police discussed with the Commander of An Giang Border Guard to establish a joint command center to combat cross-border drug crimes.

The service dogs of the An Giang Border Guard Training and Mobility Battalion also participated in the exercise.

The group of criminals transporting drugs to Tinh Bien international border gate were discovered and chased by anti-drug forces, who shot and injured one suspect, seized evidence including a car carrying about 0.5 tons of drugs and 500 heroin bars. Many subjects quickly escaped, some fled to Cambodia. Forces of the two countries pursued and killed them, while 4 subjects escaped into residential areas and took some people hostage to demand ransom and meet their other demands, in an attempt to escape.

After the joint exercise against cross-border drug crimes was completed, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Senior General Nieng Phat, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, and Senior General Hun Manet presented gifts and encouraged the forces participating in the exercise.

The Border Guard force protecting the border gate immediately opened fire to suppress the attack.

Drug traffickers were suppressed by the Border Guard at the border gate, forced to abandon their vehicles, ran into houses along the roadside to barricade themselves and take hostages, fired AK guns, demanded ransom, and fled with their vehicles, demanding the release of their accomplices who had just been arrested by the Border Guard.

A Border Guard special task force was ordered to go to the scene and arrest the suspect who fled with the vehicle containing the evidence.

Other Border Guard special forces, along with the Mobile Police and Provincial Police, approached the target, waiting for orders to attack, capture the subject and free the hostages.

As soon as receiving orders from superiors, Border Guard special forces and CSCĐ simultaneously attacked.

Some people who fled to Cambodia were also ambushed by border guards; one injured person was taken back by medical staff for treatment.

The subjects fought back fiercely, burned houses and injured 1 soldier.

Border Guard Medical Force promptly arrived at the scene to treat the injured.
