Regarding the case of the Land Cruiser with fake blue license plates, the Ministry of Public Security released an official statement on the afternoon of June 30th.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry previously received a document from the Administrative and Management Department II (under the Government Office ) requesting an investigation into the matter of a vehicle belonging to the unit, bearing license plate number 80B-9189, being charged but still having money deducted from its VETC account at 10:23 PM on June 22nd at the Ben Thuy I bridge toll station, despite not being operational.

The Land Cruiser was fitted with a license plate flipping device to "disguise" itself as a government vehicle.

Noticing signs that the driver was using a fake blue license plate and had fraudulently obtained money from the VETC account of the vehicle with the real license plate 80B - 9189 to pay tolls at toll stations, the Traffic Police Department directed its operational units to conduct an investigation.

At approximately 10:00 AM on June 30th, the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 2 (Team 2) of the Traffic Police Department stopped and inspected a Land Cruiser with license plate 80B - 9189 as it passed through the Van Don toll station ( Quang Ninh ).

At the time of the inspection, there was one man and four women in the vehicle, and the driver was Mr. N.D.H (50 years old, residing in Hoang Mai District, Hanoi).

During the vehicle inspection, Team 2 determined that this Land Cruiser was using a fake license plate 80B - 9189, and also had an inner flip-up plate bearing the number 29A - 455.65.

Working with the police, driver H. admitted that the Land Cruiser he was driving actually had license plate 29A - 455.65 and that he had intentionally installed a license plate flipping device on his vehicle, displaying the correct license plate on one side and 80B - 9189 on the other. He also presented the vehicle registration and inspection documents for the car with license plate 29A - 455.65, which he owns. Mr. H. is currently employed at a central government agency.

Team 2 is coordinating with the Van Don District Police (Quang Ninh) to verify signs of profiteering by Mr. H. when he drove a vehicle with a fake blue license plate through toll stations, defrauding road tolls from vehicles with license plate 80B - 9189.
