Every day, he usually leaves his house in Tan Kien commune (Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) to the An Lac roundabout area, then takes National Highway 1 to Ben Luc district (Long An province).
Mr. Cuong said that in the past 6 months, January 19 was the day he smoked the most, more than 16kg.
Every day he smokes a few kilos, sometimes more than ten kilos, mainly iron scraps, small iron chips, mixed with sharp iron, screws...
On the morning of January 19, he drove a motorbike towing a magnet-equipped cart from his house in Tan Kien commune (Binh Chanh district) on Vo Tran Chi street (Binh Chanh district). Seeing many scraps of iron on the road, he slowly drove two laps on this road (through Binh Chanh district and Binh Tan district).

In the afternoon, when he returned home, Mr. Cuong and his father, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Dung, weighed what they had sucked up, a total of more than 16kg including iron scraps, small iron shavings mixed with many sharp objects such as nails, screws... Mr. Cuong said that he occasionally went to suck up nails on the above road, each time only about 1-2kg of iron scraps, iron shavings...
“I drove slowly and got a lot of nails. It could have been dropped by a truck or someone on the road,” said Mr. Cuong.

Mr. Cuong plans to go nail-sucking all year long, except for one day to visit graves and one day to clean the house.
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Dung said that since he was a child, Cuong had been sick and had poor eyesight, so he had to wear glasses. When he grew up, due to the effects of his childhood illness, he was weak and could not do heavy work.
Mr. Cuong said that on January 19, he was busy cleaning nails so he picked up some scrap metal.
“Seeing you do that, my wife and I are also somewhat happy. Even though we can only contribute a small part to passersby. I hope you will be healthy enough to help society a little bit,” said Mr. Dung.
Mr. Cuong uses an iron bar with a magnet attached to it to attract nails. He feels happy to be able to help a small part of the passersby.
